stem/trunk size

is the width/strength of the trunk @ the base a good indicator of a strong/healthy plant that would likely put out a high yield?

Since they are always trying to stand up straight, does LSTing them give them a workout like constant wind does and cause the trunk to get thicker? I would imagine if they were being restrained in a position they were trying to get out of that they would do everything they could to toughen up in attempt to become vertical. Am I right?

in some ways yes but you mean the STEM not TRUNK

I have the same logic as you when I think about that, I started LST and the stem promptly shedded and has been shedding since and getting thicker, LST seems to have some effect on stem size, but you can use fan stimulation to get the same effect. Im doin both so hopefully my stem will be nice n beefy.

onetime I like your setup and plants, but a word of advice. GET A HPS setup when its flowering time, bud from under cfls and bud from under a hps are night and day my friend. look into it you'll be glad you did.

well I was actually thinking about doing some LSTing outside, and where I live the wind is often 40-50km/h almost never under 20 - so I'd be getting a lot of wind stimulation regardless of what I did

I would be LSTing to keep a low profile / make it less noticeable but if it did more for the growth style than just that I may be extra motivated to give it an extra hard time reaching upwards!

so what kinda bulbs he use HPS...hope so your buds are not even half of what they could be if your usin CFLs to flower. Thats a good idea though man, like a tiny awesome assembly line!!!

sucks that you don't get to see and love em whilst there in full BLOOM though, quite a site to behold especially if you had some bomb seeds to start with.

LOL its easyer lol i used to look at it all the time but now i do the clones and seeds to 4 weeks than they go in a hps 400w sun master 55000 lumens and two 125w cfls (6400k)

a lil side note, can anyone tell me how many plants a 400w hps would run as compared to a 600...and are the numbers the same with mh. gracias.

a 400w will grow about 1-8 max and a 600w a couple more if you got the room
MH has less lumen intentisty and is a BLUE light best for VEG
(400) MH has around 32000 lumens

so stay in the 400 watt area if I'm only bringin up 5 girls?

400w hps will be great for 5 plants do you well . .

awesome I was gonna go up to 600 to get that lil bit more of intensity and maybe a lil more growin edge, but if 400w will do it justice then I'll save a hundred bucks.
