George W. Bush, in his unprovoked attack against the sovereign nation of Iraq, openly violated the UN Charter, to which the US is a signatory. The Charter's core principles contained in Article 2(4) and Article 51 prohibit one nation from attacking another except in self-defense or with the authority of the U.N. In effect, George Bush launched an unlawful use of force against persons and property.
The invasion launched by George W. Bush was heralded by the most frightening and powerful use of force and military violence in recent history. His Shock and Awe bombardment of Baghdad was designed to intimidate and coerce the government as well as the civilian population of that nation to change its existing leadership. That, in itself, was a political objective.
The purpose of the invasion and ensuing occupation of Iraq was to replace the existing dictatorship with an American-backed form of democracy that would not permit the emergence of a government headed by the majority Shia religious leadership. These motives were unquestionably political and social

hmmmmm that makes bush a terrorist..

There is no international law that protects terrorists. The Geneva Convention does not apply to them. It's pretty simple.

Cheney is the biggest douche bag to ever occupy High Office. I am reading Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency by Bart Gellman; it is scary this assholes world view and the fact he was a heartbeat away from having his finger on the button

You guys watch too much liberal television. Dick Cheney has been villainized by the left wing liberal media, since he was associated with haliburton, and you all fall in line - brainwashed.

At the same time they sympathize with the poor Muslim terrorists, and like lemmings you all run off a cliff lol :wall:

You people realize that torture doesn't work, right? It illicits FALSE confessions and misinformation. In the Korean War, our troops were WATERBOARDED until they confessed to crimes against the Korean people, and could be used for propaganda purposes. After WWII we executed Japanese soldiers for waterboarding our guys. I love 24 as much as the next guy, but it isn't reality! We got more info from Kalid Sheik Mohamed by giving him sugarfree cookies because he was a diabetic, than we ever did in the 100's of times we waterboarded him, he actually clammed up and gave misinformation when we tortured him.

at least we use a little something called FACTS! And I have no love for terrorists, but how can we claim the moral highground if we break International Laws that we helped write, not to mention it DOESN'T WORK!

If you read up on the Japanese waterboarding, you will find the technique to be quite different. They may share the same word, but that's where the similarity ends.

If I wasn't an atheist I would be pretty damn sure that Cheney was the anti-christ :P One of the most hateful people to have held office! My most memorable part of being in office is when a guy told him to go fuck himself on t.v. :P

When you go into battle it is best to have a few warriors at or near the top.

You don't prevail by projecting weakness.

Can you imagine if conservatives continued to go on and on about Clinton's failures? I think this thread proves, once and for all, Libs really are whiners, who prefer to live in the past.

It was Clintons projecting of weakness in the first place which brought about 9/11.

Al Queda watched Clinton dismantle the CIA. They watched him dismiss their attacks on Embassies and US warships. They watched Clinton treat the first bombing of the WTT's as a criminal act and not one of terrorism.

They watched....they learned.

Appeasement does NOT work with despots and dictators or terrorists......

The only reason I will disagree with this, is that the CIA under Clinton after the first WTT attack had a close eye on them. It was not until the next president that they were no longer watched as closely and able to carry it out. The CIA even had the theory of them using the airplanes for the attack. So they did not lose enough to not be able to know this.

I am not going to say that Bush was asleep (debatable and since I was sucked into the propaganda of anti-Bush I acknowledge that my view is slanted, and I believe may be wrong after seeing all this bs about Obama), but he did not have the sheer panic that Clinton must have had after the first attack of them.

The reason that they were able to hit the embassies and ships where they were not on American soil.

Oh and as far as Dick Cheney goes, I disagree with stuff he has said and done, but hell if you can't find respect for a man that can shoot someone in the face, and have that person apologize to you!
