Still cant figure out the problem

Does a Mag deficiency show itself as yellowing, thrn burn the ends down like it is on my plant? I just flushed the 5 gal pots with 5 gals of clearex 2 days ago. The problem has progressed somewhat fast, which makes me think it was a deficiency to begin with, instead of a lockout. What does it look like to you guys? I thought it was a Mag deficiency to begin with, but those picture guides make it look like a zinc. But I know the likelyhood of it being true are not likely. I started the Lucas (h3ad) method back up again. Added 2 hefty pinches of epsom. Gonna watch and see how it goes. Is my assumption correct, or do you guys see it another way?

Ro water, lucas method for coco, adding epsom every watering this will be week 4. In pure coco with air pots. I mix micro, then bloom then epsom

First off, it appears it's still a minor issue. So don't start over-doing it and making it worse. When you flush, you need to flush with 2-3X the pot size. So, for you, with a 5 gallon pot- it should be flushed with 10-15 gallons. More info is needed:

1. What's the medium?
2. What's your pH going in and out?
3. Do you add Cal/Mag?
4. Do u use R.O. water?
5. Root zone temps?
6. What ferts are u using? (GH?)

Lastly, pinches of anything ain't gonna work buddy. If u are looking to add mag, foliar feeding would be faster and wouldn't toxify the soil anymore.

well. using RO water, You need to supplement Ca and Mg. the Epson salt is obviously only taking care of the Mg. Ca is very important. I would pick up a bottle of cal-mag to supplement. Either way, The epsom salt should be added first to your water.

I think the burnt edges your seeing are toxicity from lockout. Don't misinterpret it as a deficiency, and make things worse.

It's gotta be the missing Ca, and probably mixing the epsom salt last.

if it was just Mg. the leaves would be clawing down slightly - like overwatering. They would become very pale green, and have purple stems.

and I think people usually add like .5-1 tsp Espsom/Gal. Your not baking a cake. lol. a dash of this, a pinch of that. Be a scientist!

do you have any idea what your ph is?

Dont know runoff PH. Intake of nutes is always around 5.8 give or take a tenth.
Do I not mix epsom last, I've seen, and been told over and over always mix epaom laat, it'll fall out of aolution if mixed first. I'll flush the plants again today in just a few mins. I'll run 3 gals of clearex mixed water through thrm and 7 gals of tap water. 2 pinches of mine is about 1.7g give or take a quarter, and it doesn't ever seem to be an issue especially later in usage of coco when the K is being released alot from breakdown.
I'll flush it again, foliar feed some epsom, and let it sit for a day till it starts drying out. Then get the lucas up again with GH micro and bloom, and add a little calmag (2.5ml? I dont use this because up until now, the micro has always had enough cal and I just needed epsom).

That's a cal/mag issue no doubt!! The crispy brown tissue won't come back, but the new growth will be fine. Get them some Epsom salts at 1 tsp per gal.

It's always best to add calcium anytime you add magnesium......that's why they offer cal/mag together. If you use a r.o. device, you need to add 10 ml of cal/mag per each gallon of water. This is why you have the deficiency- not enough used.

You should add you "base" nutrients first and cal/mag, floralicious, enzymes, etc. second.

I always thought coco pH should be spot-on 6.0, not 5.8 or 6.2 or anything else.

True, but Epsom is an emergency stop-gap measure until cal/mag can be had. I've learned to go with the fact that most folks don't have any on hand when shit hits the fan.

I have EVERYTHING on hand. Just didn't use it. Why add calcium if the plant isnt showing it needs it was how I was taught. I'll change the way I add epsom. I've been flushing with a hose for the past 20 mins lol adding clearex intermittently. Ph for coco should always be 5.8 in e perfect world. Higher in latter stages for better phosphorus absorption. Ill speay some epson on the leaves once im done flushing. Then in a day or 2 add nutes as normal but add epsom in a different stage. Instead of the order I add it. Or jyst use calmag instead, though I have yet to see a calcium problem. Thanks guys. Much appreciated for saving my ass.

The Ca/Mg relationship is complicated. Plants need Ca to assimilate Mg and vice versa. But too much of one will lock out the other. I try and keep a balance between Ca and Mg when supplementing, but some times you just gotta go for the Mg with whats on hand. One or 2 shots of Epsom has never tipped the balance for me, nor have I ever heard of it happening unless one drastically over does it.

I would like to add to this stellar bit of info that if an abundance of K (potassium) is prevalent, then that will compete with Ca and Mg locking them out.
Also, if experiencing a Mg or Ca or N or S, deficiency, why not just spray them with them nitrate's/sulfates, while limiting the Nitrates/Sulfates in the soil, This should and does fix nutrient deficiencies.

...because I didn't think of that...lol^

Flushed em. Sprayed em. Will start the new way to feed in a few days.

Heres some photos for an update. I'm still at a loss. I raised the one that was burning and bleaching most about 2.5ft above the canopy, and bleaching has stopped. But this burning keeps up. I'm at my witts end and am about to just trash this its pissing me off. I spray an epsom mixture under and on top of the leaves, I see purple streaked stems which weren't there in veg or fiest few weeks of flower. So I think a mag problem like people said, but nothing is helping. I flushed it in the tub for like 15 mins straight of water. Then started back up with 6ml micro, shake, 1g epsom, shake, 9ml bloom, shake and then water. Now the other one is burning too. Idk if it's directly the light or what. Because the leaves under the canopy are perfect. The ripped leaves are from me ripping off the damaged parts to see if it's progressing, and it is.
