not only do u try that, try every single strain out there bros. just because its cfl dont mean jack fuckin shit. my buddy, who grows with son-t agro hps i tihnk 600w, who mass distributes, was so shocked and impressed to see the results on my plant. everything from temp with only 1 shitty fan, to how bushy and healthy the plants were growing. he couldnt beleive that the node spacing on our plants were perfect. no it didnt stop him from buyin another trunk full of hps's (no joke) but just the fact that it impressed him because he doubted us from the get-go. in conclusion grow what ever the fuck u want, u can grow anything. dont let others tell u shit :peace: glockdoc420

Grow any strain according to your own preferences in harvest time, eetc. I am 40 days into a floro grow using lowryder 2, white widow, meds, and some random bagseed. All this in a 2x5 closet adn yes, I am forced to move to another larger area!!! I've already got some AF Onyx seedling to take up the room being vacated soon. I know my 6" and gal pots will limit sizes and yeilds but since I grow for my own use....I intend to have choices....Appears I will have several! My closet of bonzai jane's are looking very good.
My lighting is 6- 48" tubes, 24/0 and I water when dry via meter which has been about every 5-7 days. Didn't nute til bout the 3rd week.

ya feel me!! next ill start a fuckin marijuana riot and hopefully can get million to follow! but back to the topic, yea..hps are great and all, but this is a cfl forum, and it would be completely stupid to think that just because were using cfls and (and others claim it cant be done, not to go get what u want to smoke for whatever reasons. u can grow with a halogen light, it will grow, but the results wont be good.

I agree with OldReefer, it depends on your preference of what kind of high/stone you want and your preferred harvest, some can flower in 6 weeks others on the upside of 9, 10, 11 weeks even. Some do better outside and some inside, some are sensitive to nutrients, disease, mold, ect so aren't really suitable for outside. Indoor grows you can control most aspects of the plants environment
However, I'd recommend a couple things;
1) Buy from a well known reliable vendor; Dr. Atomic, DJ Shorts, Paradise, Nirvana(good price for good quality) just to name a few
and
2)I'd recommend feminized seeds if you aren't going to use clones and keep a mother. Saves you a lot of trouble and space in your cab from those pesky males

Ultimately there are a lot of good genetics out there and some genetics we don't even know about because of people breeding their own. One of my own goals is to find a good or unique set of genetics and make my own strains. I've found lots and made quite a few, but I know there are still a lot more out there to be tested.

That's part of the fun of it, a quest to find those perfect genetics for you. Whether the characteristic your looking for is yield, appearance, taste, or just growth.

Were it my first grow, I would just germ some bag seed and see whats up and if have the green thumb so to speak. A very big investment in seed and start up costs might really turn you off until you get your sea legs. I dont have much experience but I am doing my sixth grow just now.

My first grow I fucked up all kinds of stuff but in the end finished one of ten original seedlings with some slick oily indica it seems.....and it was marvelous! I had been scouiring the sites for several weeks when I finally just decided to start out with some bag seed. It was a wise choice for me. Had I purchased $120 worth of great genetics and huffed 9 out of 10 plants I would have been discouraged, if not totally pissed off. Just my two cents worth. Enjoy...this is a fun hobby!

Since CFL's don't provide a lot of penetration, I'd recommend a short, stocky strain, like a heavy indica. If you grow a stretchy plant with CFLs, you'll have a hell of a time getting the lights where you need them.

Also, make sure you don't just grow the plants straight- use some sort of topping technique, or if you're crazy in the head go for a Scrog or LST. I'm growing Northern Lights from marijuana-seeds.nl, they're doing fantastic. I topped them using the Uncle Ben method, and I've got 4 fat short chunky girls going now that will give me at least 6 ounces when its all done. No fiddling with screens or string, just top and grow- tons and tons of buds.

Scrog and LST are pretty good techniques if your using CFLs. Makes for a more uniform canopy that you can really do some good light placement for penetration.

I've always seen better yields with Scrog or LST in CFL or micro grows. I guess it really depends on your setup and where your lights are placed

I'm not trying to say that Scrog or LST wouldn't work with CFLs- you're right, they would work just fine. I just think it is a lot of unnecessary work for not that much of a gain over a well placed cut in your plant, like described in this thread

https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/151706-uncle-bens-topping-technique-get.html

CFLs fit nicely between the colas and spread their light around everywhere, its very efficient and no hassle. One cut, and your done.

with lst you turn your side branches into top colas and can be done during flowering again and again and again to get an even canopy of top colas, how is that better than the 2-4 you get from topping or fimming? lst will make many many more tops than topping and fimming. tying down the new tops is alot of work to you? it takes the same amount of time approximately to top or lst. bending the plant over, putting a piece of string around the plant and then taping( it to the side of the pot or where ever takes maybe 5 seconds, about the same time as it takes to cut the top off.....lst doesnt shock them, topping does though....

im a newbie using 2 x 200watt purple cfl/grolux lights for 5 lemon skunk plants i was told best results if i hang vertically and very low to plants im sceptical as i cant see many reviews or reports on this sort of light arrangement its all being done in a reflective gro tent of 1.2m, 1.2m , 2.0m would like sum feedback pls .

you should fim/or top/ or prune it for yield as soon as you can and use lst on the new tops. what i like to do is use both fimming/topping, lst, and scrog but if i only could use 1(or if flowering of course) i'd use lst, my previous post seemed like i was saying topping and fimming are always bad, which i did not intend it to. i fim a few times and tie the new tops down w/lst if im gonna do a scrog. in truth these methods work the best together. topping/fimming then lst the new growth points then just keep pushing them them under the screen till you have your screen filled and are ready to flower. best of luck

that was my biggest thing was trying to maximize my yield.
