Strains that were a big dissapointment.

I thought i'd start a thread about what strains didn't live up to the hype, i rather just avoid the seed bank battle's (but thats up to you). i'm interested in what really you// had high hopes for, & the end result was just average at best or below.. i got alot of experience & can shed knowledge on a few "busts"..

My biggest would be Top 44, very quick but WEAK..

early sativa..(weak)

Chronic (aka slyder), good size but not a big punch.

western winds...(aka kali mist)... i was stoked for this stuff, took FOREVER & wasn't worth it.

Thai..to leggy & overtake's others, weak, but was tasty.

Flo// dj short, not impressed

mighty mite, just plain a waste of time..

Mr.nice-G13, not impressed at all.

Dutch treat, way better directions than this, to take for taste.

Durban poison, well there are many varietys of this what i had sucked, not enough crystals..

Shiskabery, not very great.

blue velvet/dj short not very good.

burmese, very leggy, these leggy plants suck indoors.

well those are what i was not impressed with from experience, these were all done personally..
i'd like to hear some others that didn't live up to the "HYPE"..:blsmoke:

This will be a great thread as it developes. A place to vent. With 30+ years of growing, here's my list and why:

1. D.P. Mazar- couldn't get it to finish- ever.

2. General's Daughter- A C99 hybrid. 90% of the seeds were males?????

3. The Hog- After all the hype, a major disapointment in quality and weight.

4. XXX Skunk- Tall, spindley hemp plants.

5. Reefermans strains- poor germination, poor quality, but I only grew his indica's. He's known for his sativa's.

Had some germination problems on a couple of strains too. I bought several more strains too while they were on sale this summer. I only tried one of those (Mazar-I-Shariff) that was 100 % even though I tried half the pack using the runts. All were OK potency. BTW Reeferman has retired once the seeds are sold out you'll never be able to get them again.
Anyways I digress, I tried Highgrades Seeds once, a mix pack of WW, NL#5, & Big Blue all were pathetic in potency. (They don't even sell that anymore) I tried the Hindu Kush too, it was wildly variable. I had a runt, a monster that wouldn't stop growing, and a normal one. NONE looked like an Indica. The high was excellent though and I saved a clone and crossed it to many other strains after but haven't grown any of those out yet. Everything else I've grown I've been very pleased with.

sweet tooth 3. whatever no where near what the original was, tasted generic and lost the euphoria to the high.
new blueberry lost the berry flavor.
super silver haze from greenhouse the feminized ones, took over 13 weeks and had a low potency

I don't mind stepping in right here. I haven't grown any of Arjan's other strains, but I have tried his Strawberry Haze. Very disappointing. It was supposed to stay low, and give decent yields. Not so. Stays very low in flowering, then stretches like a bitch in flower, going from 1 foot tall in veg to about 4-4.5 feet tall in flower. Popcorn bud, very sad.

I haven't finished her yet, so we'll see how the smoke turns out, but the plant so far has not lived up to everything that it was supposed to be.

I was thinking of trying Arjan's Haze #3. Have you had any experience with #2 or #3 Squarepusher? I'd be interested to see how they turned out. I love the idea of a short plant with big yields and an up high. Might just be too good to be true though.

Worked with the Cronic strain for 7 crops now. All of them has been Average yeild and average smoke... But my last time I got 90oZ on 39 plants under 4 1000W HSP (air cooled) veg time, 4weeks, flowing time, 9weeks. And then I didn't clone before going into flower because I thought this strain was shit! I would accaully recomment growing this strain, I would again if I had it....

my biggest beef is with nirvana jock SHIT. it was horrorable.

my list is long and there is little quality control is not as it used to be.

most of the mail order seeds are not a great indicator of breeder, they are attemping to duplicate perfection for the world

Would someone be so kind as to make this thread but instead of strains that were a dissapointment, put strains that were really dank? Then we have the best of both worlds.

I was thinking the same thing, more like "strains that were better than you expected them to be"
