strange booby trap?

ok need some advice here. saw something very odd when out looking for new ground today. went for a walk down a small privately owned path beside farm land. i saw a small trail heading off towards some light undergrowth. i stepped off the path and moved towards the undergrowth only to hear an extremely loud bang to the left of me, i turn around and see a large amount of smoke which appears to be coming from the otherside of the undergrowth to the left of me. i got out of there quick as you might think. anyone know what this might be? maybe just some diverstion tactic for an existing grow?

Flash/bang grenade or a game scaring device. Either way you mention the words "private" and "I stepped off the path". You're asking for trouble simply by being in the area. Just an old man's 2 cents worth.

Maybe a bird-scarer?

yeah ive heard of those. They make a motion sensor connected to a battery and a .22 blank. The motion sends a signal sending an electric current setting off the blank. We used those up in michigan to keep deer and other medium prey off our land. Also it could be a type of alarm letting the owner know someone or something is there. Id stay away from there in case it wasnt a blank and you got lucky but usualy most people do use blanks in fear of a lawsuit of endangering other animals that arent in season.

Good catch though atleast now you know where NOT to plant your crop. But its all in the game when your goin KingKong. (guerilla)

Ive seen a 10 acre plot of forest just covered with these types of alarms and repellents. Some will even go as far as using a 12 gauge buck shot pointed to the ground. Try havin one of those go off unexpectedley 5 feet from where you are. But usualy there are signs telling you PRIVATE PROPERTY enter at own risk. Or LIVE AMMO REPELLENT. We call em scarecrows. Atleast it wasnt a bear trap.

Maybe, improvised device with a shot gun shell or other blank. Would suck if it was a real round.

Only the one in the chamber was a blank, still got 9 in the trap(with a standard 10 round .22 mag)

Lol when i was 14 i stumbled up on a small grow out in the woods near my house and they dug holes and put 5gal buckets in it and covered them in grass and small sticks you walk over them and fuck up ur foot

Don't fuck around with private farmland, you'll probably end up getting shot. your picture was probably taken a few times by trail cams too haha. that was just a lil warning m80 or something stupid to get you out of there.
