Strange deficiency problem with flowering plant?

So my friend called me today if I could go to his spot and see what's the matter with his plant. And here is the problem: he has couple of plants, and two of them are showing these symptoms - the top leafs of the plant are yellowing and curling, but not through the whole plant, but only on a part of it - the rest is completely healthy. affected area is slow in flowering and it's obvious that buds cannot form, and just branch away everything is regular. It is obvious that it's a problem with some slow moving nutrient since it started from the top, but i can't pinpoint which one - any suggestions?
Here are the pictures, one showing the affected branch and the other showing another branch from the same plant, but healthy

I would think pest if just a couple branches. Explore the node area it is originating from for boring Beatles, maybe Ringo.

I will tel him to look for bugs, but i haven't seen anything like this caused by bug problem

friend tells me that he didn't apply any additional nutrients other then some pellets he mixed with the soil prior to putting the plant in it. I have some experience with to much nutrients and there was no burning of the top leafs specific for nutrient burn, plus only the part of the plant if showing symptoms while the rest is ok. The leafs first started curling and yellowing, and then dying, and it started from the top of the plant at the start of flowering

if you are not feeding it. i would suspect a potassium or zinc deficiency.

Non, and never! Again, this is not my plant, it belongs to my friend.
The only feed the plant got was a lot of manure pellets that were mixed within the soil prior to planting, as he has kind of a guerrilla thing going. The problem started happening some time before the flowering, with couple of leafs in the middle of the plant getting curled and yellowing, but progressed when the flowering started to a stage shown on the pictures. I thought it might be a potassium deficiency, so he got some potassium n the soil ASAP, but i doubt he can make much of a progress in this stage

Maybe a root issue, have him scrape some of the soil away from around the roots and see what they look like.

I was just having the exact some problem, for me it was from the soil becoming to acidic. I mixed a good bit of dolomite lime in water and sprinkled a good bit around the base, the damage that's done is done but they are growing normal now and the problem has stoped.

The problem will continue to progress and your yield will be reduced significantly, I had a few plant crap out in flower last year from this issue until I figured out how to remedy it.
