Streching seedlings.

I got 10 seedlings sitting under, a 250w HPS.

They're about a week old havn't given them any nutes.
And they're stretching like a bitch this is the first time i've vegged with a HPS.

the light is about a foot from the seedlings.
Anyone know why they're stretching?

Temps are about 74-81 at any given time.
And i've got a fan blowing the air away from them, and a bigger one blowing air in.

They're stretching towards the light. The thing is you can't put them to close cause of the heat that the HPS produces.

If you want to minimize the stretching, get some fluorescents or cfl's so that you can put your seedlings right up to the light source without the risk of burning.

I personally wouldn't recommend using a light source that powerful for seedlings. You're almost guaranteed some major stretching.
