Stretchiness...troubling

These were clones that had been left far from the t5 light for a while when I took them off a friend's hands.

I did everything I could to change that with LST and Topping and keeping lights close and such.

When I started 12/12 they were all under 20 inches. It's day 14 and the tallest is 42 inches.

I've been keeping my 400 watt hps pretty close without burning (5 to 10 inches)...so I'm fairly sure they're not stretching for light. The strain is a medical Super Silver Haze, I believe from Oaksterdam.

I know they're supposed to double or triple in size when you go to flowering under the sun or under like a 1000 watt light, but I didn't expect such a stretch so early.

Now that the flowers are going is the stretching going to slow down or is there any way to know when it will slow? (my outdoor Green Crack stopped stretching after only 6 inches and maybe 3 weeks) I ask cause if not I'm gonna have to rebuild my tent and move some things.

What happens if I just stop moving the light up? They grow up past it and dip back down? Or just less yeild because too much heat there? Or what?

I can move the light one more time, about 4 or 5 inches so it's getting to be crunch time. I had to take off the light yo-yo's last night.

What could I be doing to make them stretch this way? And can I do anything to make them stop

Thanks

Well , they will grow past the lights to the ceiling and the one under the lights will burn. I would staart tieing them down NOW and gain about 5-8 inches.

you just said the answer. "I know they're supposed to double or triple in size when you go to flowering."
hate to say it but flowering is flowering regaurdless of the light the size will increase due to genetics.
hope that could help but tieing is deff your best bet..
