hello, recently almost every post i have read has a couple of people using the term BRA, eg. looking good bra! This is doing my head in. a group of people going around refering to each other as items of clothing which are intended to hold breasts in place. just wondering if there are any of you who think the same about this term or others. Post if you got any that you just cant stand.

I use that term... but I spell it differently because I agree with you about it being intended to hold breasts in place. I spell it like "bruh".

I sometimes use "bro" but never in real life. I like "mofucka" a lot but people think I'm insulting them so I don't usually say that either...

I put 'bra' with in the 'hood'... ethnic re-pronuncation of brother or neighborhood... I, personally do not care for either except when speaking to someone who might appreciate the slang and use bro if I must.

As I have no brothers (blood relatives) I am not acustomed to using relational references such as 'bra'. You're right bra is kinda getting on my nerves.. no matter who uses it. (I've never put it onto any particular userthough).

I'm not crazy about 'reality' television and anything they do on them. The beeping out of cursed words makes me change the station.
Reality TV does nothing for each of our individual reality.

If you're big on RT, then you might not have any 'reality' yourself and you probably think WWF wrestling is real too!

Cheers.:joint::joint:

The slang term (correctly spelled) 'brah' came from the Hawaiian surfing community... not the inner city urban community.

In Hawaii, the "shaka" sign, a hand gesture with the thumb and pinky extended with 3 middle fingers folded down into the palm, is a greeting commonly used in the surfing community. (contrary to some belief it does not mean "hang loose" ).

The shaka hand sign is what the Hawaiian surfers use to represent the term "shaka brah" ..... or greetings brother.

The Urban word to say brother is 'bro'. Hell.... even urban dictionary.com got it right that the term is spelled 'brah' and originated in the Hawaiian surfing commnity.

I don't mind the term 'brah'....when used correctly.... it's actually fun to listen to surfers talk in their slang.....

When I see someone post using the word as 'bra' I have to laugh because they are trying to be 'cool' using slang..... but they don't even know how to correctly spell the slang they are using. It doesn't make them come off as cool..... kinda the opposite.... uneducated and/or really really young... as in 13.

LOL.... let the rock throwing begin :mrgreen:

you got most of that right except for the last part. Some adults really talk like that and I don't think they care if they're "cool" or not.:peace: saying "bra" doesn't seem uneducated either its like saying "dude" IMO. I hear dude all the time but I don't think whoever said it is uneducated/young or trying to be cool. just my 2 cents:mrgreen: Although some kids/posers do try and use slang to look cool that isn't always the case.

Yes.... but this isn't a "verbal" board.... it's a written word forum. I'm not criticizing the use of the word.... just the spelling of it. I realize a lot of people use the term 'brah' in their speech, just like the term 'dude'. I see nothing wrong with it.

I just laugh when I see the slang spelled incorrectly. Come on ....can they really not be bothered with that one extra key stroke to get it correct? Talk about lazy! For the record.... I think the same thing about typing the word dude as dood. It just makes the poster look stupid ;)
