is a 32oz styrofoam cup ok to flower "budsickle" style clones in? im gonna have about 64-72 of them under a 400W HPS..just wanna know if the styrofoam is ok to use...thanks in advance!

also....will a 50/50 peat moss/perlite medium be ok to use as well? kind of going with a dr.budgreengenes method, but with a 400W HPS lamp instead of CFLS

Peat moss is pretty acidic actually, if you're going to do 50% perlite I'd make sure the rest of your soilless stuff is adjusted to ph neutral

Styrofoam cups are fine long as you punch holes in the bottom. With 32 oz my concern would be space for roots, plant needs the same mass above ground as it does below.

well. ive got a 42" widex42"deepx7' tall closet, and im gonna put a 400W HPS in there. i want to do a dr.budgreengenes style grow http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=69713 or https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=83041 its a perpetual micro SOG style. i want to have either 64 or 72 clones under the 400W with 2 or 3 wk cycles. 16 or 12 plants each harvest; every 2 or 3 weeks. with average 90 days to flower my strain, unknown name, good herb tho...i can get about a qp every 3 weeks or so. that is plenty for me, but im wondering, should i go with less clones and more rootspace? or what is your guys's input here..thanks!

thats about 7-10 grams per clone, with 8 rows of 8 clones, 4 sections, harvest every 3 weeks, you do the math, its about 128 g. every 3 weeks. or i could go with 72 clones total in flower, 6 sections, 12 clones each section, 2 week cycles, about 84 grams every 2 weeks. either way its about 4.5 lbs a year. about 450G for a 400W light. the ratio of gpw is so high due to the budsicle style clones. no wasted "popcorn buds" no wasted energy on little bullshit, just one big cola each clone. ive heard of people getting 3.7GPW doing this method with the right strain dialed in correctly. so who knows where it could go. i need as much herb as i can get with my allocated space. thats why im deciding on if i should go with 32oz styrofoam cups. 4x4" each, can fit up to 90 in the closet. but i dont know if i should just HAVE LESS CLONES, MORE BUD PER PLANT OR MORE CLONES, MORE HARVEST...just dunno...need INPUT!

yeah what he said, I think you're cup size is fine though.
I'd go 50/50 perlite/vermiculite if you must make your own mix.
