sub, i'm in the process of harvesting my first run using supersoil.... already got the next batch cooking. thank you for sharing all of your knowledge! my plants really liked the soil, and i really liked just having to water.

one question: what signs do you look for for an underfed plant? a few plants of mine, like a bubba kush which i believe is a heavy feeder, got lots of curled up crispy leaves towards the end (week 6 or so). that was after the leaves turned yellow. this all happened around week 4 of flower. i topdressed a bit at day 30 (not 2" of supersoil though, just a handful or two). i'm a bit unsure of why i got such curled crispy leaves. my ph was off a bit at the beginning of the cycle, and i'm unsure of the ppms of the water but i believe it's around 150. environment was fine, everything else was fine, i'm sure it was either underfeeding, ph, or ppm. just hoping you can shed some light on signs of underfeeding as my next round i want to make sure that i give them enough.

THANKS!

thanks for the flushing info.:bigjoint: If anyone has a more confident answer that would be appreciated too. "I think there is no need to flush." The "I think" part will keep me searching for a more definitive yes or no.

thanks again,

Ish

don't believe i said anything about 'i think', but suit yourself and wait a longer time to get the exact same answer... or you could spend a couple hours researching it yourself.... no skin off my back:bigjoint:

My purple kush plants are doing the same thing. Except they are only 33days in and theyve been yellowing and the leaves starting to become crispy and curl up at the tips for about ten days already. I def think it is underfeeding bc the whole plant seems a little pale and they are eating up the bottom leaves. This is even after topdressing with 2" of supersoil at day 25.

They had 33% supersoil in 8gal pots and were centered under a 1kw HPS w Co2. I think their environment just required more nutrients. Next time im probably going to go closer to 66% supersoil.

Been experimenting with some other strains and they dont seem to mind having alot more supersoil in the bucket. Hell, I just transplanted another PK i had to an 8gallon pot and I used 100%[B/] supersoil and zero potting soil and that plant is looking the best so far, it didnt even get "hotfeet"!! My other PKs showed some signs of burn right after transplanting them into a container with only 33% but i think that was mainly because it had only been allowed to cook for about 25 days. This latest one got supersoil that had been cooking for three months.

Sub, been meaning to ask ya: You say as the supersoil gets older you can use more of it. is this because it is just less likely to burn the plants because it is better cooked? Or does the soil begin to lose some of its strength as time goes on?

Curled crispy leaves or that fried look comes from to much food or to hot a soil IMO. Cheese has this problem in SS.
I have a buddy named Joe that grows in 100% SS and kills with it I have no explanation my plants would fry in veg.
Highstandards,
I feel its more a ph related issue it seems to me the soil just performs better after it sits for awhile we make up so much now that ours is sitting for 6-9 months and I see much more consistency from crop to crop.

thanks for the input sub. thats good to hear, i wont worry about letting it sit for extended periods then, in fact i'll aim to let it sit that long from now on.

About the curling tips i mentioned, I know thats usually a sign of overfeeding, but is it possible to first start showing signs of overfeeding after being in the supersoil container for over 60days?

They showed "hotfeet" for a few days after transplant, then they were lush and green and healthy as could be for 60 days, now they are starting to fade out and the leaf tips are, the best way i can desribe it, dying from the tip of the leaf inward and curling upwards. What's your two cents on whats going on here?

that's my thoughts exactly as to why this isn't an overfeeding issue. the plants grow fine and healthy and then, later on, they start to wrinkle and die

What's would you guess is causing my plants to die sub? I havent given them anything other than a half serving of Liquid kharma and sweet every other watering so I dont think it's overfeeding

thanks man

I cant really say I am not a trouble shooter but the products your using are products used at the end of the budding cycle IMO even though the manufactures claim different and are very low in PH (citric Acid) I have seen many plants fried due to this.

Not saying thats what it is but its where I would look

How long is querkle out for, I see pistils has removed it from his listings at the moment, is this a permanent thing or is the return imminent.

I read somewhere that you used Liquid Kharma and Sweet and I thought I read that you used it every watering, but i mustve read wrong.

Do you use these products? When and how would you suggest using them if you do?

thanks a ton man! i was so so sad to see my girls starting to suffer. I really wanted them to come out perfect and it was very disheartening to see they werent growing like they should be. Im not going to give up though, i feel like i'm about to "turn the corner" and learn to grow so to speak, lol

Subcool,

When you make the mix explained in the begining of this thread is that what you are calling the "concentrate", the original batch mixed with the soil? Do you then put this on the bottom 50% of the 10 gallon pot and then regular roots organic the rest of the way up?

Thanks

When using super soil, the only thing added is water.
