Substitutes for advanced nutrients????

I've been using advanced nutes, and was wondering if there are any cheaper nutes that work just as good or better.......for example the carboload i have heard molasses is just the same, is this true????? And any other substitutes too save $$$$

You can get cheap nutrients from lowes or home depot. I use Alaska Brand nutrients that I bought from lowes, its all organic fish emmulsin. Its produces fantastic crops!

if your doing hydro stick to chemicals it's alot cleaner and always use hygrozyme if using rockwool as ur medium and yes u can use molasses but organics are very messy sometimes

I'm sure you could get things like Miracle Gro or other cheapo nutes at your local hardware store. But would you really want to smoke weed that's grown with crap nutes? I wouldn't.

All those low quality chemicals make your weed taste like a#% and they aren't designed to help with MJ growing, so you're really shooting yourself in the foot twice if you go the cheap route.

Advanced Nutrients really works and you can find a lot of ways to make things cheaper if your budget has to be tight.

-go to discountAN.com
-look on Ebay or Craiglist for people selling their nutes - much cheaper
-use 25% less of the nutes in each grow
-use Sensi A&B, Big Bud, Overdrive at the very least

There are plenty of ways to make things easier on your wallet. You just need to think about how you can use less and find the cheapest prices.

If you want quality weed and not just some crappy smoke, you need to use good nutes. AN are the ones I always use.

I don't want to tell you what to do (LOL), but think about what you might be missing out on if you use less than adequate weed. You might spend less, but you'll also get a lot less for the energy you put into your grow.

That's actually a myth started by some guys with a bone to pick with AN. Carboload and molasses serve similar roles in plant feeding, but they're not actually the same. (Just looking at them makes it pretty obvious, but for some reason people keep repeating the myth.)

Molasses does feed the microbes in the soil (providing there ARE microbes in the soil), but there's more to it than that. Plants also benefit directly from carbohydrates.

If your soil is sterilized or you're not confident that it has a healthy web of microbes you'll either want to go with a carbohydrate source designed for hydroponics (like Carboload that works fine without soil-based microbes) or you'll want to inoculate the soil with beneficial microbes. Stuff like Tarantula, Piranha, and Voodoo Juice are all rich sources for beneficial microbes.

It depends on the store, but yes you should be able to find it at a grocery store. You want to make sure that it is un-sulfured blackstrap molasses. Use at 1 teaspoon per gallon application rate, and use it whenever you like (during feeding). Some people use it the whole grow, some just during flowering. IMHO both schools of thought have merit.

Generally, though, I stick with AN. It's just easier to be sure you're doing everything right.
