Ok eveyone. I move to A new location this last winter so I had to move my Grow to the new house! In the old house I used A bedroom and had AC in the summer and had heat in the winter. Now in the new house the room I am using has heat but no AC or any window's to put A window shaker in. I was looking to build A homemade ac using copper tubbing, a cooler, ice and A fan. But durring work when I am not at home it will get warm and then extremally hot! My main concern is my flowering room.

I have A seperate veg rm and A second room for flowering. The mother room I will use fan's and should be able to keep lower than 90 deg's and was gonna supplement co2 for them at that high of temps! Now my flowering room is not gonna be the easiest to cool. I have looked at those portable ac's at homedepot but I have no place to exhaust the unit! Any other idea's? How about those wall mount fan's? Or has anyone ever used A swamp cooler?? Please all ideas would be great.... I don't want install A ac or mini split and no modification's to the house! I know that makes it harder, and by mods I mean cutting into the exterior of the house.

My rooms are on A second floor above A bedroom so noise is kind of something I need to keep low. all of this is also tied to the garage, I do have A filter and exhaust fan and I just don't know if this will be enough. How hot does everyone else's flowering room's get? I might not have to worry to much and use plenty of fans but I just want to be ready if needed.......

I purchased a roll around floor model 2 years ago at sam's club. It has a reservoir built into it so it can run about 4-5 hours before you need to dump it, and it has a bleed out hose as an option that you can run thru the wall. You will however have to make a 4 inch hole in the wall for the exhaust which of course is quite warm. maybe this is an option for you. Good Luck. :peace:

crackerjax- that is what I am looking at... Do u like it? So instead of using the res, the hose is for drain? If u don't mind me asking how much did u end up spending?

I think it was like 230 for mine. yes the hose is for the drain so you don't have to use the res if you don't want to. Don't forget you will need to run the exhaust out. the first night i used it, i was like what the hell, this thing isn't working.

It was my brain which wasn't working.... as soon as I realized the exhaust was pumping back into the same room.

i went to school for heating and ac and i was going to suggest the same roll around unit. it is portable and is usually more expensive for the fact its kind of a specialty item. look around on ebay or at garage sales.

Don't use any evaporative coolers they are shit and won't work worth of shit. All what it is, is a fan blowing on a wick thats in ice water to blow cool air. You have to fill them up with ice every few hours and drain it and such, its a good unit for causing very high humdity in your room and a very good mold mechanic.

Plain and simple, they don't work, unless you want it to barely cool, cause mold, and having to refill it with ice, I wouldn't use it. Just use a portable a/c unit with it's exhaust into the actict or to the outside via a hole in a wall with a vent on the side of the house. Used with a vented hood if putting the exhaust out the side of the two store building:http://www.dundasjafine.com/images/33JMcr51wJ.jpg such as one of those on the outside wall of the house.

this is A tough decion now!!! Two totally diffrent opion's, I have wired the larger unit's on store's and restraunt's and they have done A great job. I just don't want to put A larger hit on the elec bill, My bill is already high enough. The portable AC have been in the back of my mind but once again the bill concidering I am currently laid off!

having lived in az for many years the swamp cooler is used every where there. you will have to keep a window open with a swamp cooler it will stop cooling if you run out of water. they do work well for cooling. i don't know how it will efect your humidty level. most swamp coolers are used in dry enverments. cuz they work with evapration coolingif you live where the humidty is high it may not work for what you want it to

Mine is similar except for one BIG difference. I have the option of using the tank(which is removable for easy dumping), and I could run with the drain open and it will never shut off. you may want to keep looking. As soon as I go to my other house, I will post the brand. Maybe tomorrow. :peace:

I have no window's available and to keep topping it off with water would be A hassel. Right now it wouldn't be but when I am back to work full time I wouldnt be able to keep on top of it. How long will the swamp cooler run unatended?
