that brick stuff is called coco coir. I have never personally used it but would like to. It has no nutrients so you'll have to do all the fertilizing yourself it's basically just a hydro set up. I don't know if the casting will work with it but worth a shot I guess. I would recommend using soil until your more experienced but for now just keep the substrate moist until the it pops up than get some cfl light on it.

1. what soil? does it have perlite?
you'll need at least 30% perlite in your mix to help drainage.

2. the pots doesn't mind. they should be opaque and not let light get to the roots.

The soil should be moist but not drenched with water.
water again only when its bone dry at the top 2".

You can use the light but it's not necessary until plant sprouts. keep the coco moist and if the light is drying it out than turn it off. Yeah you have autoflowers so 18/6 all the way. I would just transplant them into soil once they sprout, get your pot ready with some good soil that drains well. Wet the coca and with a spoon jently lift the sprout out of the pot just don't damage roots you wll be fine. Put the sprout in premade hole in moist soil container and sprinkle some coco or soil over the roots and bury the stem a little if needed. Immediately moisten the added substrate and walla you just transplanted.

The reason I say this is because using a soiless medium is hydroponic gardening so your going to need to be dialed in. soil acts as a buffer and is more forgiving so if you over fert or something you can just flush and usually be okay and holds some nutrients right off the bat too. With hydroponic gardens they are at the mercy of the nuts your giving them and once the damage is done it's hard to go back. Hydro isn't that hard once you understand the concepts of it just get a crop under your belt and learn while you do you will be okay.

1. add perlite. at least 30%. Just scoop gently the part where the seed is at. take care not to break any tap root if there is one already as it will kill the plant.
2. when there aren't any leaves the plant doesn't need light. but once they pop out they do need light or they will strech looking for it and exhaust the plant.
get some low intesity light, like a 20W CFL over the pots meanwhile so you won't burn too much electricity and won't heat the pots and dry the top part out.

Autoflowering plants react best with 20\4 light regime but would work with almost any regime. 24\0, 12\12, 14\10, whatever you like as long there are enough light hours for the plant to create energy.

it will work, but not as well.
perlite makes the soil drain much better reducing the abillity to overwater greatly.
Its easly penetratable by roots as its very light which makes the roots grow better.
Its PH neutral.

Plus, its cheap and readily available in most places.

You can mix up to 60% perlite to 40% soil in your mix and get some nice results.
however, the more perlite you add the better the drainage the more you need to water.
I like using 30% perlite in my mix when using soil as I don't like watering too much and know when I overwater. for a newbie I'd recommand 40% perlite. Thats a whole lot of perlite.

right know the ak47 is coming out like 3/4 mills have 2 23 watt lights on it

so when it comes all the way out I get perlite and soil and replant for better
