super new grower: 400W MH/HPS plus 200W led together??

Hi guys

I have always wanted to grow my owns beautiful plants for many years now, but life got in the way many times.

anyway i have finally decided to do it this time for real and i got some questions about my indoor setup.
Grow room will be size: 75*75*150 (2.5*2.5*5ft) made of PVC pipe and reflector paper similar to the car sun-visor.
i only plan to grow one or two plants at the time (mostly one)
Lighting system seems to be the most complex of all, i have been reading a lot about the HID VS LED and many people give different opinion and we all know how it goes when there is topic about HID VS LED

I feel like i drifted a bit from my question:
Can i use 2 lights at the same time? 400 MH/HPS (CHINESE MADE) PLUS full spectrum {380-840nm} 100w*2 LED (according to the Amp draw of this LED: 3000ma @110V=108W i would say its legit 100W)

Please feel free to correct me if i am wrong about anything.
Your inputs are much appreciated.

Thanks

With that set up I'd do a rotation, have a few cuttings under a t5 or cfl, veg in a separate area with the l.e.d and flower 2 plants maybe scrog with the 400.

Thanks for your reply.
But my setup has to be limited to only one small grow tint, therefore i cant have veg tint and flowering tint.
So my setup will only be for one tint which will have one planet in it from seed to flowering.

Regarding the light, i have done a lot of searched and it seems that the full spectrum led is beating HPS/MH Sytem only if it can generate true watt same the HPS/MH its compared with.

So that leave me with 3 options
Cheap: 400W HPS/MH
Affordable: True 300W Full spectrum led
mix: 400HPS/MH + 200W full spectrum LED

Which option do u guys think will give me good result (big yield, yet high quality buds)??

Thanks

Lots of people mix the 2 with great results. I see no reason why it should be any different for you. The only thing I can think of maybe being a problem is the heat. Even a 400W is a lot of heat for a space that small. If you have good ventilation fans you should be fine with both though.

If just one then HID. Bulbs are cheap and available if it goes tits up. Try that with an LED going down. And they do like anything else.

in my opinion leds should be used as supplemental lighting with hid as a primary source anyway. many people will disagree with me on that poijt though.

your biggest problem is going to be heat. a 400 hid will raise that tent over 100 in no time. and the leds will put off their own heat which mightn bebannissue as well.

what do you currently have for fans (or plan on getting)? I think your best option would be using an air cooled hood for the 400 (get one with a footprint that will cover your entire floorspace). youll need a fan for the hood, could probably get away with a 4 inch inline (not booster). and then youll need a fan to exhaust the tent, you could probably cheap out and get an 8 inch booster fan for this but youll need pretty big passive intakes for that size tent (roughly 12-16 inches, in passive intake). alternatiely you could get another 4 inch inline fan for the tent exhaust. the price difference is the 8 inch booster is about 40-60$ cheaper than the 4 inch inline, but imo rhose booster fans dont last long exhausting bynthemselves.

and I would recommend just trying the leds alone for veg and add the hps for flower (more likely add it a week and a half or so before flower)
this would save you some money in power if that's appealing to you. otherwise you could run all the lights all the way through (most likely get a little faster growth in veg).

hope this helps you out.

I will be having 2 exhaust fan each is can extract 12M3 per min, Also the temperature where i live will drop in the next couple of months to approximately 20C in Nov, 15C in Dec and 10~5C in Jan & Feb, so i think the heat which is generated from the hid light will be helpful for the plants.

This was my idea, is to use the 400 HPS/MH as the main light, and the led is an additional lighting to give better quality buds.
As for the ventilation and the fans you mentioned, i dont think i can find any of this types where i live also i cant run any fan that produces noise, therefore my plan is to user a powerful 220v 20CM ball baring fan (like the one in the PC, but i believe its more heavy duty) as its 2500RPM, and can extract 12m3 per min.
I will be using 2 of this fan for the exhaust/ventilation. also the HPS set will be coming with the air cooled hood. i might add an extra ventilation fan for the hood (depends on the heat, after my test)
as for the inlet air flow, i will be using another fan with 2500rpm

here is a photo of the fan, the size is 20*20*6 cm, 0.45A, 65W 1.5KG (i think it should be strong enough to over come the heat and ventilation

Okay WHEN the light goes tits up. When it fails. Goes Kaput and doesn't turn on anymore. Because sooner or later EVERYTHING stops working. Just from hard learned lessons.

Place your veg underneath the bloom portion of your tent and seal any light leaks.

so it like 2 in 1 tint? with small part veg, and rest for flowering?
Yeah. It's already shaped like a multi story apartment building in miniature, why not? Just run low watts underneath, but since that will be veg anyway it won't be a problem. Try T5 CFL, length to fit your space. The plants can all but touch them without burning. Don't get too many, run fixtures of pairs of lamps. This way you won't accidentally cook anything.

just rechecked the fan i was planing to use and i found out its noise level is 68db, that seems to be a bit load for my places. so i might consider using different one.
So my tint size is 75*75*150CM and as per my understand to get the cubic size of an area it should be 75x75x150x1.25= 1.045M3

Can i use 2 fan that can exhaust 0.5m3 per min? at 30db noise? or that wont be good enough!!!

I dont think that the smaller fans would wprk nearly as well. 68 db isnt really that loud for an exhaust fan, and I actually think its lower than most fans in the 400 cfm range. my activeair 6 inch is like 75 db I think. and 75 isnt really that loud for me. it seems loud when your right next to it but if your a room away you can't even really hear it.

if noise is a really huge issue theresa lot of things you can do to quiet down fans.

could build an oversized wooden box for the fan and put insulation under and around all the space taken up by fan. obviously have to make ports for your venting.

then you could hang the box from bungee cords from the ceiling to reduce vibration noise as well.

Great idea, thanks for that.
My apartment ain't that big just 73sqm so I think 68db without noise insulation would be a bit annoying.

Do you guys think one or 2 fan with 12m3 air extraction per min?

it depends on how your going to set up the tent. if your just having one area then you could probably get away with a smaller fan for air exchange and use the big one to cool your hps.

if your going to stack veg an.flower id say get two big ones so you can run venting to exchange the air in both areas with one fan.
