Hi guys need some help got no clue been reading a lot and learning from my brother only thing is i don't think he knows whats his talking about

i just got 2 clones put them in a 28 litre pot with coco perliter clay rocks at the time res with 2 drippers top feed drain from bottom back to the res

running the water every 6 hours for 30mins PH level is at 6.6 EC level from the tap is 0.8 i have put COCO grow A&B + Rhizotonic = EC of 2.0

one of the clones i got looked almost dead when i got it and the other one was in good shape but they both don't seem to be doing to well for them selfs

i got them under a 600WAtt globe around 20inchs away have 2 fans on the plants one of the globe above the light there is a carbon filter and centrifugal fan

any help would be great really want to learn and be come pro's like you guys :)

Also running light on a 18/6

if those are plant-it clay pebbles i hear they belong in the garbage, too salty and really bad brand (from what i've been told)

if using coco specific nutes i rec. using coco next time too.

i would just use a 23 w or so cfl and a small extraction fan to save energy. once the plant gets big enough i'd introduce an HID. but yeah i'd keep a 600 at least 20" away if not more wouldn't hurt

also 2.0 ec is too much right now, you could probably get away with just tap water , or like 1/4 dosage or even 1/8 of what you did. Less is more

anytime you use something that is soilless, you are supposed to rinse, soak, and pre-buffer/charge (charging is opinion)

this helps make sure all variables are controlled by you.
a plant that small can live on tap water (if it's not super clean, you'll know after trying if it works)

Thanks for the Reply i have a 130watt looks just like that so you think its best to just run it under that till they take off a bit....
and just using normal tap water and see if they pick up... ? i might give that a go for a week and see if they make a change hopefully this is just a test run i understand im a new and things will go wrong still waiting of my seed order so i just wanted to try and nut out anything bad im doing before the good seeds come thanks for your help ill change the light over and see how it goes

if you think the tap water is really clean, which it isn't (~300 isn't super clean, but not super dirty either)
i like to use the PPM conversion on the pen, on the higher side .
my tap water reads out 110 PPM and i can let them grow 2 healthy sets of leaves before deficient in soilless.
so i like to dose in 1/8 dose once i see the second leaves emerge
in your situation it's different, because you have a rooted clone with damaged leaves.
you want to wait until you see some fresh green growth(1/8 dose won't hurt but i feel is a waste at this ppm) then start to dose in the nutrients, very slowly and cautiously. Most bottles tell you to add way too much, it helps to read up about peoples experience with your specific nutes

get that bulb within 1 foot of the plant youll be good. not too close or you have to run the drip timer more

taking pictures in HPS light will only work right when the lights turn on, and even then the orange really hides what we like to look at for diagnostics
try taking a picture under the cfl or in natural light.

remember sometimes a plant won't grow for a little right after tranplant because the roots are gonna start searching, slowing foliar growth

glad to help.
if you really don't trust your brother, and have money, try doing what someone else does in their grow journal. There are a lot of easy setups that if you follow them you will have great success!

sure keep it on 24/7 if you want to get results quicker, but once it's rooted i prefer a 20/4 or 18/6 cycle to save energy and help regulate the plant (an off cycle drops temps and allows the plant a break to get ready for the next day. Not needed with perfect environment but helps with extreme conditions)

to save more energy i'd just add in a small ghetto fan, that could easily keep up with the cfl. why scrub the air for such a small plant? you'll just be wasting your carbon! also fans and shit don't last forever, now your drawing extra power when not really needed and your system is getting age.

some good things to do are clean the setup every month, with small cleanings weekly
and get an INTAKE fillter if you are in a tent or sealed room
this will reduce dust buildup on plant leaves, the lightbulb, and reflective surfaces making the light way more efficent, increasing yield!
why spend money on a fancy HPS and let the efficiency drop because of something like DUST! lol
i love my intake filter, it's a cutout washable filter from home depot. It does a low restriction and is recycled material which is cool. says it keeps out dust and mites!

My question is why are you running 6.6 PH in a soilless environment?
Also, IMO if this is your first grow, you should have gone soil........
Much more forgiving for mistakes.

Thank you Bankatare!
6.6 is in the soil PH range.

hydro is 5.8-6.1 at least that's how I have learned.

Thanks for all the help sorry if i didnt put it in i am in soil as i was reading its more forgiving my brother just told mr to put the clay rocks on top of the soil ill run the cfl 24/7 see if it picks up so your saying at this stage no point running filter and centrifugal fans ?

Wait........
First you said "

I f that is what you are doing, I am confused why you're doing that if the plants are in soil.

Sounds like your brother has not grown before.
Have EITHER of you done any research on your own?
I see a cluster fuck forming here.

yeah usually i find, the source of all the problems can be not knowing what your using in the first place.
oddly worded, as you read more you will understand how to ask questions right and i usually find the answers to my problems just by specifying what exactly i'm doing, and reading up on it. make sure you don't just go on what people say and you take some time to read into what is what, a beginner guide will help with that. And as I was saying , if you can't read a book try just following someones grow guide and do exactly what they do, so you get the hang of it . Reading about it after that will make more sense and you will hopefully be less misguided

fyi drip setups are bad for soil. if you used coco make sure it was plant ready or you washed and buffered da-dada-da-da......
