Super Soil Charge Pack

Just placed an order for the 25lb Super Soil nutrient packs. It says to mix with 15cu ft of TGA base soil or any other premium soil. Since I am in Michigan I do not have access to bagged TGA base or super soil that is why I wanted to try the charge pack. My question is what would be the best base soil for me to use in conjunction with making this super soil. I really like using Happy Frog just wondering if that would be too strong. Whatever I use to make the super soil is what I would want to use as my buffer also. Let me know what you guys think would be my best option . Thanks

my last run of Vortex was in the charge pack and I used Gardener & Bloome Eden Valley Blend soil. It's more coco based than most, but produced some kill bud. Happy Frog will be ok, but there are better options out there. I think Vermafire is readily available up there.

All the way around bro, Nugbuckets has been using it and likes it a lot. Use it as your base and Charge Pack mix and you will be golden.

Thanks geek. Local shop stocks it. Going to pick up 20 bags this weekend. Big investment but I'm sick of using liquid nutes and I'm ready to be water only . 1 more question . Does he use straight vermifire for seedlings and clones? I usually transplant rooted clones into keg cups then 1 gal then number 5s. I'm guessing cut it down a bit in cups then when I transplant into 1 gal I can just use straight fire with a little ss on the bottom ? Then obviously when trans into final size ill layer ss. and fire

add some perilite or coco to your seedling/starter mix. Should do you just fine, then go direct into the vermafire. I don't think it will be too hot for anything, but if you have concerns then cut it.

10-4 thanks for your time. Will post updates. How'd you go about mixing . Thinking about using my buddies cement mixer. Lol

i had a video up for a while on how i do it... and yes it's a old cement mixer.

Key there is, DON'T OVER MIX! only flip it on for a minute or so or it will turn to a dust.

i wouldnt put any super soil in a 1 gal pot, i have seen that burn plants. if you upcan at the right time there is no need for super soil in a 1 gal anyways.

agreed, I use 2 gal pots for transition and I put about 2- party cups worth of SS cut w/ some perilite at the bottom.

I understand now. I'm just so used to adding nutes to my medium. what's a good casting to use and how much do I need for the mix. it says 50-60 liters so I think thats about 2 cu ft . Not sure if I can just go by pounds or what

when i make an 8 soil bag batch of ss i use 60lbs castings. the original recipe calls for 25 to 50 pounds but i say f*ck it because worm castings kick ass.

using a full 3 cubic feet of plan coco sounds like a bit much, but i havent used vermifire yet...
the charge kit calls for 15 cf of base and i know the vermifire is really hot. So i bought 8 bags of vermifire =12 cu ft. If i notice its running out of juice ill just top dress. Plus im gonna add 60 lbs of worm castings. They say to use a base soil with coco and vermifire has no coco in it so im just shotting from the hip. Nugbuckets said he cut his SS mix when using vermifire with coco so that why i am adding it

im sure it will work out just fine like that, especially if vermifire is as hot as other users on here have lead on. I came very close to ordering a charge pack last round, but i really like being in control of my mix (i have put through many crops getting it dialed in just right) and i can put together my own much cheaper. good luck my michigan brother!

Just out of curiosity, how much do you think you are spending on all your ammendments to your SS? Minus the worm castings and base. What base are you using? I know at first it would be more to buy all the products because not all are used at once but im sure it would save me money in the long run mixing my own. Thanks

i use roots original as my base, and i now use 6 bags roots 1 bag happy frog and 1 bag ocean forest for my super soil mix. using just memory and mental math it costs less than 50 bucks to put together my homemade "charge pack", if you buy enough for a couple batches all at once. that 50 bucks of nutes ends up being enough for 24 plants in 10 gal pots, so its like $2 per plant in ammendments.

edit: when i last emailed tga about getting a charge pack it was $100 shipped. this will make the same size batch as my mix, so that puts things at $4 per plant, give or take (in just ammendments). $4 bucks per plant is pretty darn cheap but i enjoy making my own mix and the extra savings is certainly welcome.
