Super Soil: confusion about transplant to final container

I seem to see two differing sets of directions from Subcool. The first (Subcool referring to the Super Soil):

"Do not put seeds or clones directly in this mix. It is an advanced mix used in conjunction with base soil. It is used to place in the bottom of each finishing container and fully rooted established clones are placed in a bed of base soil that is layered on top of the concentrate. As the plants grow they slowly push their roots into the super soil drawing up all nutrients needed for a full cycle."

The second (quoted again from Subcool):

". . . the Super Soil concentrate is placed in the bottom one-third to one-half of the container and blended with the base soil. (With strains that require high levels of nutrients, we’ll go so far as to fill ¾ of the container with Super Soil, but this is necessary only with a small percentage of strains.)"

The first suggests that you stick the young transplant directly into base soil. The second suggests sticking the young transplant in a 'blend" of Super Soil and base soil. I hope you see my confusion. Can you alleviate it?

Thanks for reading.

The first quote is referring to the fact that if you put a clone or seedling in nothing but super soil or even a strong mixture of super soil to base soil at the top of the pot it will burn. The second quote is telling you how to make it easier for the roots to get used to taking up nutrients by mixing the base and supersoil together at the top of your 1/2 container of super soil.

If your transplanting just put your super soil in the bottom of your pot up to where you want to stop filling it then on top of that layer, make a layer of soil that is mixed base and super soil ( like 1-3 inches of mixed soil works for me). Then fill up the rest of the container to the top with base soil. Think of the soil like as if they were different types of alcoholic beverages. The base soil is like a mikes hard lemonade , the mixture of super soil is like a rum and coke and then the super soil is straight shots of liquor. So you want to make sure that the plant is ready for the liquor by prepping it with the a really light drink then to mixed drink eventually onto the stronger stuff. Or you could just think bout it as just 3 separate layers within the container your growing in.

Base
-----------
Base/SS mix 1-3"
------------
SS 0%-75% of total pot size

Never place plants directly in SS especially young plants it will kill them.
If you are unsure how much SS to uses air on the side of caution.
You can always place some SS on the top of the pot later in flower if it needs a bit more food.
Once you get it down its super easy and works great.

Hope that helped, good luck.
