7-10 days I think. I would be lying if I gave u an exact time. Time is meaningless if you follow my experiment.lol
I'm just curious.. for people who might want to sex their plant a bit quicker, you could use this 7/12 method till you see sex, then go 12/12 for the rest of the flowering process.

I definatly would not try and sex my plants using this method......you would increase the chance for males because of the added stress. Its ok to experiment with light timing even though they have been already tested for many many years which is where 12/12 came from....whatever combination you come up with, it needs to equal 24 hours......7/12 does not do that.....

To me the loss of yield and increased stress added would not make this a very wise thing to do......but to each his own I guess.....

Some known things to do that will help however to INCREASE yield would be to raise the lights on time to 14 hours and lights off for 10 hours during your last 2 weeks before harvest.....this is a trick that alot of experienced growers use.....

Why does it have to be 24 hours. Time was invented by humans, its not as if the plant knows.lol Also being male or female is genetic, if its a male seed you cant change it into female. If its a female seed the only thing it can do is go hermie but again thats down to genetics. There was no great loss of yield either. It was just an experiment. It may help people who want to cut costs or are having issues with high temps.

time wasn't invented by humans bill. the hour or clock were but the time itsself is one turning of the planet on its own axis. the reason for havin 24 hours is arguable due to conflicting theories but the plant has had millions of years to get used to this daily bit of light and dark.

Why 14 hours in the last two weeks? Surely with artificial lighting you are trying to copy the growing season, at the end of the season it starts to get darker earlier and that is how plants know that the end of Summer/Autumn is coming to an end. Surely you would start to decrease the length of time you have the light on not extend it by 2 hours??

when i first started this grow i was doing 12 hours light on, 5 1/2 lights off then 1 hr light on, then 5 1/2 hr lighs off to prevent the plant going into flower.
i veg'd for 4 weeks till 30" tall and decreased light's to 11 1/2hr lights on and 12 1/2 off, i will be dropping the lights by 1/2 hours every 2 weeks until the 9 weeks period is up.
im in week 2 of flower now and have buds all over my plants and they are doing alot better using this lighting technique,
so i have managed to save money during veg and showed sex earlier than i normally do in the flowering cycle,
here's a pic of where i am at now.

Lookin good my friend I'm coming up to 4 full weeks flower on world of seeds space. It's supposed to be 6 weeks total. Going to cut my light on to 11 hrs on Wednesday then cut it by another hour the following Wednesday. If anything I'm hoping to get it finished in the 6 weeks ;)

I done some number crunching and everyone please take into account this does not include fans , a/c and such and the cost per kw will differ to but rough math where I live doing 7/12 with a 400w light will save around $6 per month on the power bill. And going by the rule of thumb to replace the bulb every 6 months you will have saved around $36 on your power bill just for the light.

Question, how long did it take you to work that out......I charge my time at between 70-100/hour?
