Sweating nugs?!

Yooo what's up everybody! :bigjoint:

I just harvested my first plant last night, and i'm hanging the nugs to dry.

Someone told me that during the drying process, I should stick the buds in a ziplock bag for 12 hours atleast twice during the drying to "sweat" more moisture out of the nugs.

Does anybody else do this? Is it necessary for a good even dry? :?:

If anybody has any good details about even good drying let me know! Thanks!

What you have been told is partially correct. You do want to cure your buds. If done correctly, there will not be any mold. After you hang your buds in a cool place for almost a week, put them in a black trashbag (tied or twisted) for 8-10 hours, then hang for another day. This allows the moisture inside the buds to excape and the bud will be evenly dry. After you hang that second time, store them in tupperware or jars. Make sure to let the buds have fresh air every 6 hours or so. This is a great practice that makes your buds smoke better and I believe helps the flavor too. Hope this helps.

I know of curing.. I have plenty of jars ready. lol I just never heard of putting the nugs into bags to pull more moisture out before jarring them.. but I will try it out.

P.S. - Do you think the THC will stick to the inside of the bag:?:

I use a glass jar to sweat my nugs, only for about 10-15 with the lid closed. I do this on the 2nd day of pbaggin it. About 2- 3 times a day till I get my nugs right were I want them. If they get to dry you can sweat them by adding a moist paper towel in the lid of the jar, for about the same 10-15 minutes. That should rehydrate your nugs perfectly, as long as you shake the jar during the 10-15 to mix them up. Cure 3-6 weeks

So I hang dry for about a week.. and you said you stick it into a paper bag.. for how long? Then into a jar? lolol I'm confused :dunce:. What exactly do you do step by step? It sounds like you know what you're doing.

I'm just anal because this is my first grow and I want things to go perfect! Here is what I'm workin with... :weed:

Brown paper bags will help you accomplish this also, plus they absorb some of the excess moisture so you don't have to worry so much about mold or mildew.

Let me check my bible! Lol:P there are many ways to dry and cure your buds. The most common way to dry is to hand the trimmed buds upsidedown just until the stems snap when you bend them. Now once you dry them they're still not ready to smoke, you have to be patient. Once the stems snap when bent you are ready to cure it. Now there are quite a few ways to cure them, the "paper bag" method works well but can tend to cure too quickly. I've found that putting the buds into airtight "ball" or "kerr" jars or something similar works the best, just open the jar every couple of hours and move them around. You want the moisture to slowly leave the buds so that they don't smoke harsh. IT USUALLY TAKES AROUND 14 DAYS TO DRY AND CURE BUDS.

HEY MAN , JUST TWO STEPS. DRY THEN CURE, THERE'S NOTHING TO IT, JUST BE PATIENT. YOU DON'T WANT TO RUSH EITHER STEP.:weed:

YOU DO NOT CURE FOR SIX WEEKS! WHATCH OUT FOR THAT GUY, TRUST ME, THE LONGEST IT TAKES TO CURE WOULD BE TWENTY-ONE DAYS OR LESS. JUST REMEMBER TO AIR OUT THE JARS OR YOU MIGHT GET SOME MOLD.:weed:

Yeah, it's my understanding that, while not necessary, it benefits the bud to be cured for as long as you have it. Just crack open your jar for a few minutes everyday for as long as you have it. Cant hurt...

Curing is important especially if you want buds that smell and taste good and aren't so fucking harsh that that take your breath away. I dry on a screen, then use brown bags for a few days then to the canning jars they go. The amount of time varies depending on the strain, the plant's moisture content, the denseness of the buds, the humidity in your "area", etc. You'll be able to tell.

Just so you know...your post hurts my eyes :) don't do anything like that baggie stuff you heard about...sound like a compost cure method gone wrong..when I harvest outdoor I hang in trees a few days to dry and then make a big pile and cure them that way but alot of buds turn brown/or yellow then when I chop it up I bring it home and put it in old whisky barrels...:)...to cure cause they hold a shit to of stuff anyway sorry to get of track the baggie way will turn you pot brown at best most likely moldy if you been doing that hang them up now to try to dry them out...this is how I do my indoor...cut plant hang in complete darkness for a week in a cool room say 70 deg with a box fan blowing on low till stems are britle theyll break when bent then I cure in jars for another week or two burping them at least once a day to let in some fresh air

Steps to dry:
Hang dry, buds on banchs
Clip nugs off, dry on screens
Paper bag at desired moisture (according to density)
Sweat
Cure

Thanks alot man! I know that guy is tryin to help. But I do know for a fact that you can cure up to a year or even more!

Well.. They are hang drying right now.

I don't exactly have any screens to put them on :-(

So can I just hang dry till the stems snap, and then stick them in a paper bag for 10 hours?

And then go stright to the jars, burping 2-3 times a day for 20-30 mins?

How does that sound?! I'm just trying to do this perfect cause I put alotttt of time into this stuff and I want it to come out some bangin, great tasting, smooth, great smelling bud! Thanks for the tips! Get back to me! :weed::-P

Follow the steps quoted above, thats the way to do it. If you don't have a screen to put the out on you can just do the hang dry, just watch not to let them get too dry. The amount of time is going to depend on the things I mentioned above. It depends on all those things, especially how dense you buds are.

Not as dense
not as much time as this Afghani:

SUPER DENSE NUGS
