The effects of the old stuff were like really good weed, but x25 strength and no ceiling; the downside is it's addictive as fuck and you can definitely OD on it, I've come close before. Agreed though, it's nasty shit and has only gotten nastier as they've banned the original substances and have to keep coming up with new ones constantly. Haven't touched the stuff since I stopped working somewhere that drug tested, it's truly a monkey on your back that nobody wants though.
Nobody I know thinks it's legal bud, the head shops and gas stations all plug it as a substitute for weed; the media didn't do it, marketing did.
Most high schoolers in my area only think of it is a legal outlet for getting a weed like high, we discussed this topic amongst teachers and students and mostly everyone had no idea its not synthetic marijuana, media has portrayed spice to be synthetic marijuana and people will think of it like that, media is marketing.
I guess that's more semantics, I think we were saying the same thing but I just didn't realize it initially. I'm trying to say that they know it is a synthetic chemical sprayed on plant matter, they know it's not weed ground up and sold as "potpourri"; that's what I was getting at. I don't know about the new stuff, but the old stuff was remarkably similar to weed. It gave me almost the same effects, just waaaaaayyyy stronger. It was marketed as pseudo-weed long before the media was making a big deal out of it. Ultimately, it used to be exactly what your students think it is; a legal way to get a weed-like high that won't show on a piss test. That was the appeal of it for most people back when I was doing it. Either way, most high schoolers shouldn't be able to buy this shit anyway, it requires too much moderation to not fuck your life up.

Like I said above, it's some badass stuff when you get the right stuff; it's addictive as shit though in the long term. How long have your friends quit for? That sucks if they're totally screwed out of smoking weed now. It took me a several months before I could get properly high off of a good bowl again, there may still be hope for them.
I think I'm the odd one out... About an hour after doing it all I got was a killer headache. My mates havn't quit the synthetics as the real stuff don't work for them. They can smoke 4-5 decent bowls with me - and nothing... They generally get Kronic, Spice, Kaos, K2 i tried the Kronic don't know if it differs from Spice. Are these the same "brands" in the States? I will tell them though if they give it up for long enough maybe they can get their buzz back. But fuck dude... Seven months... That sucks...
Spice and K2 ring a bell; there's so many brands of that crap in the US, I gave up keeping track. The brands are pretty similar as of the last time I did them though, yes. For me it took about 4 months, I meant several in the broader sense. I got into it while I was in the Marine here, since they drug test. I did some training with an Aussie unit that came to the states while I was in. They were some fun people. Took them a while to realize that "cunt" was not a popular term in the states, almost got us in a few brawls. haha If they were a real representation of your country, I tip my hat, you folks have balls.

Yeah aussies in general do like to have a go and generally don't take too much to heart, we're quite an easy going bunch.
