ok so im stuck here on wut would be better. T5 HO or T12. im not sure i fully understand the process of rooting clones but from wut i understand is that light doesnt matter that much for the stage? and to much light is bad. so im wondering if anyone has t5 high output bulbs do they use them for rooting clones? My t-12s are fine but i have alot of money and was thinking maybe ill upgrade if its worth it. any advice would be great. thanks.

Clones don't like too much light for their first few days of life. One or two 2 ft T12 bulbs or a couple CFLS about 6"-12" away is usually best for the first couple of days. After that you can lower them to 2"-4". I wouldn't bother spending the money for T5's unless you want to use them for veg, but in that case you might just want to get an MH or maybe you already have a current veg setup.

i been puttin my 3foot long t-12 40W 6500k like practicly touching the lid of the dome. i think they produce 1950lumens each so roughly 4k lumens. I think ima just upgrade to a 4foot t-12 then for the clones because its a pain fittin 1 1/2 domes under the light if u know wut im sayin. and i do have 400W mh for veg, actualy funny story i just found out my 2 hps ballasts are actualy multi ballasts and now im using mh in the 1 ;) guy sold me them for like $150 told me they were only for hps, dunno wut he was talkin about (maybe cause somone took a marker and crossed off the metal halide part lol)

T5's are more energy effecient and provide a better spectrum for plant growth, but they probably won't make your clones root any faster.

i just thought of somthin, kinda dumb question but smart at the same time. would it be better to use cool white instead of daylight spectrum for rooting?

For clones only I use a single 6500k CFL. Not a huge watt either. I keep it about 2' above the clones and run it 24/7 til they root. Works perfect.

I use t5s for my clones. The longest it took for my clones to root in a humidome was 7 days.I also have it 24/0 after the first day i take the cuttings.
