Take a chance with bag seed? Or trust the seed sellers?

I've run some great bag seed. I don't mind a plant/strain that tosses a few nanners at the very ass end of her life, but anything that throws them early in flower and any plant that shows true hermaphroditic tendencies gets culled.
what do you call "early in flower"

I say plant them .... dispensary seeds in your zip is a bonus . It does not necessarily mean the plant was Hermed .... plants often throw “ survival seeds “ ( rodelize ) at end.

I personally bought a zip of Kandy Dream and got 2 seeds buried in the nug . Saved and popped , got more weed and even STS one lower set of branches to fem pollen and them dusting another that was purposefully grown 2 weeks behind that one just to get more “ stock “.

Bottom line .... run them and decide if they are worth taking cuts or growing out to consume.

Waste not want not.

I always here the negatives. So with all the negatives in mind, I took a bagseed male, and a bagseed female and crossed them. Both were mystery to begin with and now a mystery cross. They so far have outgrown my feminised seeds from such companies as RareDank, Seedsman, and HSO. They are taller, more vigorous and faster growing. (However does not mean it will be through flower - which is starting soon, about a week maybe 2, but it is a great indication.) Also topped all the plants at the same time. Will post a pic below. I feel like bagseed is good if you can manage the males that pop up. So far never had a problem and currently working on a second mystery cross run. I plant on taking the best crosses I find that don't herm, and crossing again. Eventually the herm will be gone. Plants are resiliant. Plants can change. Hermie can be caused from hundreds of reason. It would be a stupid idea to chuck them out if they were viable. You wouldn't throw out seeds you got from a bank just because you didn't know where it came from. Most of the time id think that most herm came from stress. I would never keep seeds from brick weed as they are more likely bad genetics. I took all the seeds and laid them out, and threw away any white, crushed or broken seeds. Next I separated all the round seeds from the oblong. This should further weed out more bad. The more round seeds are more likely female than male. So far not a single issue. I could keep going and also forgot to say some stuff but whatever. So I'll leave it at that. Do not throw away viable seeds. Period. The end. Also feel free to try and talk crap hut I don't care. I'm still gonna do it. Here is pic below, almost ready to flower. Planted 3 in one pot and one look taller (most likely male) and other 2 short (probably female). I will chuck the male (s). Grown alongside white widow / Alaskan Purple by seedsman, Ghost Train Haze by rare dank and dedoverde haze by hso. As you can see mine are taller, and more vigorous. (The leaves may appear slightly damaged due to watering with a spray bottle for weeks. Just recently switch to properly PH'd water. All plants treated exactly the same.) If I can remember this post I will continue to update. My 3 Re back right. Front right is seedsman / hso Alaskan Purple/ dedoverde haze. Front left seedsman white widow. Back left ghost train haze by Rare dank.20200307_023710.jpgIMG_20200305_134221_350.jpgSecond pic about a week older. (Earlier in grow)

Also yes, i know post is older, but the most recent I found. It's less than a year so it's still a viable topic, just like my bagseeds. Nearly 100% of the mystery cross beans came out viable (Pic below of the ones I pulled from buds only with none discarded.)bongsmilie:joint::weed: Happy Toking! Spread the knowledge!

Jeez... How is everyone an 100% sure expert these days? No one knows. Try it. Is this baby human going to be any good? You have to give it a chance. And by giving it a chance, I mean you have to try to give it optimal environment.
Give life a chance, it can surprise you.
But...it could be a terrible surprise.

Terrible surprises are among a plethora of good surprises. Never know until you try it. I'm no expert. I just grow. You are very correct though.:bigjoint:

these threads are funny.

Chemdog genetics are in better than 50% of all current offerings. Those were bagseeds
GG4, again..bag seed.

Thinking that you'll get something better from seeds just because they came with a price tag is crazy.

Paying for seeds means zilch. I bought Dedoverde Haze by Humboldt Seed Org, both of which have "great reviews" and "easy to grow".... let me tell you... 2 of 3 failed. 1 is planted and is 1/8 the size of all the other plants.

Also an update, 2 seemed to be he/she and this last one I got (Mystery cross) is looking very female. (Late preflowers - crossed stipules - long tipped caylx with no ball at the bottom) and it has just been topped a second time - were at the 5th week from seed now. Pic below.

Will keep updating as much as possible - flowering coming next 1-3 weeks. I'm not falling for that 1 month veg b.s. anymore, I like big plants and big yeilds. Here is whole grow (Alaskan Purple / White Widow (Left Side) by Seedsman - Dedoverde Haze by HSO - You won't find it. (Top Left)- Ghost Train Haze by Rare Dank (Top Right) - Mystery Cross by Me - Bottom Right)

Also a bunch of seedlings (4) , all jammed under 400 watts of cfls. No problems with anything light-wise. I've grown an arm length cola of Blueberry before with 1x 200w CFL. (Just incase you thought i was full of ish) Pic below.

I wouldn’t want to find out it’s male after investing all that time. I hate when that happens.
