Taking clones of clones?

I was curious. Someone told me that every time you take a clone from a clone it makes a weaker plant, hence why ppl keep mothers. I was wondering if this is true, because i would like to just clone every veg cycle instead of keeping a mother.

i was just gonna ask the same thing Dopey, i just took some clones from from clones myself. the "mother" is in full flower outside, i am thankful i got the first 3 clones because she is a great plant :peace:

Ya i did the same thing, i took clones before i put them into flower, but it turned out they were all female and now i was thinking about just continuing to do this over and over again. it would save me some room for sure. and one less on the plant count.

I've heard the same rumor...
I'd imagine it would be because of the clones of clones being essentially branches of branches.

If you cloned the trunk of the hemp plant through air layering, you could keep the main cola forever(like a mother) and keep removing the older base for planting the original branch set.

Edit: I know clones from clones are completely fine, but i was under the impression that OP's someone referred to clones from clones over many years.

thats what most people do lmao once you determined you have a true mother and a plant that shows good characteristics like fast grower , big yielder healthy then most growers will set it aside as a mother i have done for years is when i flip to flower take a clone or 2 from each plant this giving me my next grow and so on

PS it wont make it weaker everytime you clone cause its the same DNA from the original plant Dna never changes many long time growers have same strains they had 20 yrs ago

no. There is no negative that I know of from taking clones from clones. I call it my perpetual clone cycle. I dont keep mothers

I don't keep mothers either. Too much of a hassle when they get too big and bushy. I take my clones a day or two before I put them in the flower room. Been doing this for years and the yield and potency are the same.

I was also wondering how true this was since I'm a newbie to growing. I've grown about 15 different strains in my 14 month experience and never kept a mother of any of the strains and never noticed any different or weaker characteristics in any of the clones from clones. But then it popped in my head....what about clone only strains such as OG kush. Like I said I have never kept a mother n don't think I ever will
