taproot got smaller. Nirvana seeds

I Germinated a bag seed using the paper towel method. The one bag seed that i had was successfully germinated. It grew a tap root about 1/2" long before i placed it in a rockwool cube. I kept it in the dark and hit the lights once it sprouted. It is how growing very healthy.

Now my Northern Lights seeds from Nirvana came in and I'm using the same method as i did with the bag seed and i have no success. The seed cracks open and the tap root comes out a little bit. then about 10-12 hours later it gets a little bit smaller and seems to have closed up a bit. I have attempted this with 3 seeds.

Any suggestions as to what i'm doing wrong? I don't want to kill anymore seeds.

but seriously... i don't know if this is really a problem... i know if you let the papertowel dry up it can cause that a little... but as far as waiting for taproots to be a certain length... i thought once a seed cracks and you get any root, that was a good sign you can start...

Well i don't plant the seedling once the little root is a certain size. That just happens to be how long the root on the bag seed was when I checked it and decided to plant it on the rockwool. Oh and i don't actually measure them with a ruler or anything like that. that's just an eyeball guess.

Should I be planting it in the rockwool cubes as soon as the seed cracks and the root comes out just a bit? The only reason i waited was because the NL seeds only cracked and the root came out only a little bit. I figured the taproot needed to grow out just a little bit more like the bagseed root did.

Right on. thanks man! I was having that patience mentality so i was going to wait for the root to get a little bigger. Bad Move

When the seeds sprout,

Then again it's already pretty much 1/4 inch as soon as the seed cracks.

r u sure the taproot isnt just curling and appears smaller???? either way as soon as u see it get it planted

Well what was happening was that the seed would crack then the taproot would come out only a little bit. I made the mistake of leaving it in the moist paper towel longer so the root could come out more . Instead when i checked up on it about 8-10 hours later the root had just gone back inside the seed!

I germed a new seed and placed it in the rockwool cube. I'm just waiting for it to sprout now.
