This depends on what neighborhood you are looking at.

On the topic of privilege: In this culture today I don't believe privilege is a racial thing but a gender thing.
splitting hairs, to me this is^^

ethniclines/gender lines/ class lines, all forms or bigotry and control . . . . their is no difference as when you break them down to their simplest emotions you have jealousy/envy/control and hate thats it

Oh. That went somewhere I did not expect. Obviously, race exists as a concept ... but it looks like the convo went to not just differences, but questions of better/worse. cn
Right, but race goes beyond color. I can say race exists by color alone but I think human nature wants to classify and compare things. This is how we know our world. It isn't a bad thing, IMO, it's natural.

I agree that it is natural ... and that is why i disagree on the other. It is a bad thing, because the same (or an inextricably entwined) instinct that has us comparing and classifying has us ranking and then making pass/fail, in/out decisions on that ranking. Often civilized decent behavior depends on our controlling our natural behaviors, and acknowledging and denying our inherent mistrust/dislike of the Other. Jmo. cn

Difference is what makes people unique and great. It's the diversity nuts that say we are all the same that I can't stand.

just like time their is no such thing as race, . . . . now suggesting that observing skin tone is acknowledgement of race is a facade

we are all the same, even have the same dna for the most part running through all our viens, slight noticable differences do not mean we are different races....., at least to me

maybe i should ask a question instead like

china has a rule that you have to be over 5'9 to work for the gov

also Germany has a system in schools set up that if you do not meet educational requirements early on your have nto earned a spot in higher education

whats the difference in these forms of control and which is prejudiced and why? and how does this match up to the current , forms of racism and classification being discussed in this thread

Both the Chinese and German limitations are expressions of numerus clausus, limited access to a limited resource. The Germans use proven academic performance as the criterion; the Chinese use age the same way we use it for awarding retirement benefits. They're neither one tied to race, creed, color etc. cn

This is what I don't understand CN. Why does duality have to play a part in this. To the mind that is asleep racism or bigotry take on a life of their own and are no longer just a state of mind. When people understand that this bigotry is nothing but a bad idea that can easily be changed then the mind can change. We marry the human to the idea and all it does is solidify the idea and make it real.

This is why I have a hard time understanding these terms, bigot/race. They are only concepts that turn into religion and pollute any constuctive thought. Fuck, I'm guilty of getting carried away but i reel myself back in.

Does that make any sense?

Because (in my opinion) so very few of us take the time or the courage to check our most basic assumptions/beliefs against a standard of reason. I consider that to be the duty of an adult human. cn

Yes but to simply ignore characteristics and not try to improve them seems illogical doesn't it?
"Improve" is a term of moral judgment, and it presupposes that those characteristics are objective. Improve your own? Fine. Impose improvement on others? Raises my agenda hackles. cn

Couldnt have said it any better brick

and I too wud love to see a thread where blacks are bashing white america

I patiently wait
LOL!
do you not see how you're the one repeating the assertions on the "propaganda fliers"?

if you can point me to where there are black people on this site being racist towards white people, i will be happy to make sport of that, just as i am making sport of you.

but 100% of racism i've seen on this site goes the other way, so you'll just have to endure me being "anti-white" a little more.

you poor little thing you.

Yes why not improve your own if you want to would research be racist? Or how about putting out research to improve others if they wish to do so. I believe we try to do things like this with our plants as well correct?

Right, and this leads to an identity crisis and that's a real bitch. When a person is invested in their ideas and they cling to them like a life raft it is hard to get that person to even consider seeing things differently.
