 Hi all, just found out I have been growing under the wrong type of light.I understand I should have been using M.H. lighting for vegin. Well I have had my plants under a 400 watt H.P.S. light from the get go. Should I switch to 12-12 light cycle, I was hoping to get them to show there gender before going to flowering cycle. Since it was the wrong lighting for vegin, could that be the reason for the biggest plant to have curled almost crisp leaves? Will I be able to sex these plants, without flowering? The plants other wise look very good. Thanks for the help.

You are wrong. The hps light won't hurt your plant. The mh would have helped with root development but many of us don't have both. If you had to choose just one the HPS would be the choice.

Mr. VIcious is right on the money!
If I had to settle for only one type of light.....HPS, no doubts....!

so what happened to the hospitality haha jk so that means you cant control the height or size of your plants if your forcing them with the HPS correct? cause i know for a fact MetalHalide is for vegging and HighPressureSoddium ideal for flowering and to reach its maximum yield so then whats the outcome with only using HPS?

Man, you guys are learning too much! :blsmoke:

You can grow all the way through with,
Flourescent, tubes or CFL
or
Mercury Vapor
or
Metal Halide
or
High Pressure Sodium

each will work by itself!

It's just that there may be some slight differences when using only one spectrum, so to be optimal, we sometimes use the cool for veg and the warm for flowering.

Certainly, if you want to use only 1 all the way, HPS is your best choice.

Just because your growing with an HPS will not make them insta flower. Its the time cycle change that initiates flowering (or chemicals if your a scientist kinda guy)....

You probably wont be able to sex them until 2 weeks after changing the lights to 12/12 -
