Temp and Humidity Levels?

Well, I just got 4 precious Purple Kush Clones, and my grow room temperature is around 77-85. Is it alright? Humidity level is a little low. It is around 32%. So yesterday i was thinking the cheapest way to raise the humidity, was a Vaporizer with strictly water and salt for steam, since i have it in my house and its free. Is this ok to do. It raised the humidity from 32% to 39% just from a little steam in my room!! If anybody knows anything wrong with using a vap, please let me know, or any information on free and cheap ways to control Temps and Humidity's!!!!!

Yes you need to get that humidity as high as you can. Plants transpire alot of water, and with clones they dont have well established roots yet, 50-60% humidity is ideal. I assume the clones are rooted, right? When they flower you can let the humidity fall, but during flower do not let it get over 50%.

A vaporizer will create heat as steam. if your already up around 85F+ you don't need any extra heat being created. No salt either.
Some people hang a wet towel or use a bucket of water in their cabs to create extra humidity.
I would try something like this before I used steam.

Small vaps, really dont create much heat. Salt will not evaporate into the air it will remain in the solution tank. I however wouldn't use salt because it raises the temp required to boil water.

Soooo, the clones ARE rooted, and just transplanted two days ago...(still on 24 light) I left my main window in the room open which made the WHOLE room about 65-72 degrees.... I am growing in the closet with panda film which is totally sealed except, last night I left about a 8 inch tall x 12 inch wide hole open and shut the main closet door.. Leaving a Tiny gap, between floor and closet door, It dropped the temp, ALL day today to 76-79 degrees in my room. The humidity level has ALSO raised to 38-40%. So adding steam didn't add any heat becuz i left a small air gap for cool air to come in...Tonight I am turning it on 18/6 and RIGHT now am going to go take pics and add some more humidity, I WILL be back in a little BIT with pics of whole setup!! And by the way about the Purple Kush turning purple, My avatar pic I grew, and is purple kush. I did in this same closet WITHOUT doing any temp control or humidity control, I gurantee the room was constantly 82 degrees plus and my plants still turned a litle purp, so Im not worried bout it, THIS strain is SOOOO HARDY and pure, i wont have any problems, im just trying to make my frow as BEST as possible!!! be back with pics!!!!

I forgot to throw these picture in there!!! I also have 2HUGE Cfls in a custom reflector, 68 wats, and 4800 lumens a piece!! only one is turned on becuz i am having heat issues which are actually pretty much being taken care of!! Sooo i could probably turn it on now!~!

Thx, I am not worried about the temp really anymore, with me making the whole room freezing, it seems to be keeping the temperature below 80 degrees in the closet and thats with both lights on now!!! Im figuring it out!! And as far as the steam from the vaporizer, It isnt making my room any warmer I am just kindof concerned with the lights and the steam/moisture the vap puts off, Will I be alright or should i maybe move things around a little better?

nah.. salt lowers waters boiling temp..thats why cooks use salt in the water to boil it faster

Yea, Soo Im a few days in and the vaporizer has not created any extra heat, I got the humidity up to around 38-42, Im keeping it around 40, the temperature about 78 and no higher that 82 now with the closet door and the film cracked slightly, the room is not used for anything so leaving it cracked im not worried about any light leaks, and about the salt thing, I kind of chuckled when he replied about the salt becuz right on the vaporizer it says, if steam does not start within 10 minutes, add a pinch or 2 of salt....So i wasnt worried about that. I got the humidity up to 47 by adding about 3 pinches worth, so i figured ill stick with two, I dont need too much moistue in my closet!!

I think the required humidity levels for growing quality MJ are over stated.
I live in the driest state in the driest inhabited continent, fact.
Our outdoors grow huge and trouble free with around 20% RH and intense dry summer heat.

Why is it that some folk think that indoor MJ needs 50% humidity while vegging to strive?
What is the science behind that need?
I'm interested to know.

Cannabis is believed to be decended from asia, so i would assume it does best in temperate enviroments. So thats probably why people recommend 50% RH. Its what it has adapted to grow best at. Its deffinatly not required. But the stomata on the leaf transpire water into the air. The RH in a plant cell is almost 100%. So if the RH in the air is lower, than say 50, thenthis will speed or increase the amount of water leaving the leaf. This is due to osmosis. The lower the RH the more they will transpire, and you will have to water more often. This may also require that you use less nutes atherwise your at an increased chance of the leaf tips drying out. Since the high EC would be pulling water at the roots and the low RH pulling at the leaves. Hope any of this helps/makes since. Lamp.

Basically, good humidity lets you add the required amount of ferts without dehydrating the cells. And you dont have to water as frequently.

Cheers Lamp. I was hoping you'd chime in with a scientific explanation.
Made sense to me.
Thanks.
