Temperature probe on fan, help?

Can any one tell me how to properly use the temperature probe for my fan, the one you hang around the canopy that should tell the fan to keep the temps down. I have it set to 27 degrees - 81 Fahrenheit but the temps under the light at canopy level max out at 31 Degrees - 88 Fahrenheit which is a little higher than I would like it to be. Does any one have any suggestions or solutions?

I would place the probe dead center of the room at canopy height just under the light.
I would also drop the temp so that the fan is kicking on at 78F.

I don't even know how to have it kick on when I want it to this is the issue... maybe I should have worded it better first :eyesmoke: Thanks though. The fan kicks up when the light does, it's the one I use to cool my hood if this helps, Thanks again Budfever!

You want your fan active if you using it with a air-cooled reflector.

it is active from the second the light is on to the second it's switched off again, how can I have it to where the fan actually controls the temperature like it's supposed to? as I said I've set the fan to 27 degrees Celsius or 81 degrees Fahrenheit, but the temperature has levelled out and seems to be staying at the 31 degrees Celsius/ 88 degrees Fahrenheit. My air cooled hood is not leaking air and is around 1 foot away from the seedlings the temperature reading was taken from seedling height.
