Temps STILL high in 4x4 tent 600w -- Please HALP

4x4 -- 600w w/ 6" cooltube
4DWC w/ Res NO chiller -- drop frozen jugs in res, recirc
6" Vortex
6" centr fans

Ventilation:
Window < Ducting < Vortex ( TENT)< Ducting < Cooltube (OPEN END) -- (havent added in the ducting +carbon filter just yet)

---
SCROLL DOWN FOR PIX!
---

I have the Vortex sucking all the air and venting out of the window. The ambient room tempt the tent is in is 72-75 but my temps inside the tent are 85-90.

Why the fuck do the temps shoot that high? I had a 4" vortex with 4" ducting reaching these temps.. I posted earlier asking about heat and temps to which everyone said go with a 6" vortex and ducting, which I did and the temps are EXACTLY the same..

So now im looking at a portable AC but in the house the central AC is running constantly.. I also feel I just wasted a ton of $ rebuying 6" sizes for fans/ducting/carbon filter.

Input? :(

I really don't want to add an AC. Only thing im doing now is adding 2 trays of ice/water/salt to try to keep humidity up and temps down.. I'm bummin now.

Thanks fellaz

EDIT:
ICE/water/salt brought temps to around 83.. and RH above 40% -- although this may be a temp solution, i cant be going through all this ice everyday

Is the vortex sucking through the light? How big is your intake? I run a 400 in a 2' x 3' cab, and my cab temps are usually lower than my room temp because my intakes are right next to the floor. I have my fan hooked to a carbon filter, then blowing through the hood and exhaust. Intake is 2 8" x 12" darkroom vents.

Yeah it is. It's a 6" cooltube. The vortex sits outside of the tent too.

Window < Ducting < Vortex (TENT)< Ducting < Cooltube (OPEN END) -- (havent added in the ducting +carbon filter just yet)

Intake is passive with 4" ducting at the bottom, which sits on the floor as well. + the 3 flaps that side open --

Theres a lot of negative pressure (tents sides sucked in) but the heat is being generated from the bulb -- even with all that air sucking teh shit out of it.

I put my hand a couple inches under the cooltube and i feel a ton of heat coming off it.

I really don't know as I'm new at this as well but, could that fan blowing down on the light be forcing heat down? Have you angled the fan upward to see if there is any difference? Just a thought....

^^ yeah i shouldnt of taken the pictures with those fans in that spot. they were just clipped and hung out of the way when i was working int here. they are clipped lower to the intake blowing the cold air up

I had a similar problem with my heat. Check out my grow journal to see how I attached ducting directly to the AC unit, to bring it in my box. This method keeps my temps low, and I open the door to help bring in fresh air, hope I helped!

I would try adding a duct blower or a box fan to suck air in before investing in an AC unit. I have 2 tents going and I probably don't have much of a choice and will have to get an AC unit next week when I start flowering

thank you. yeah, i actually moved some crap around ( fans really close to the flaps to suck in air and blow up + tray of ice/water) and temps are sitting at 80. not ideal but like you said, maybe a small fan hooked up to the 4" ducting FORCING some cold air in may be able to get back in high 70s. i really dont want to go AC-- kind of the reason why i chose 6 over 1k.

I'll keep taking in everyones tips and suggestions -- which has already got my temps down 5degrees and keep working.

thanks everyone so far for all your help! -- havent even smoked yet today ;p

My opinion, granted I'm not the most experienced grower out there, but I would purchase I small intake fan, use some flexible tubing to hook it up to the ac vent, via a flange. Don't siphon all the cool air, because the rest of the room will get hot. Dedicate half of the vent to the your grow space and the other to the rest of the room. It is pretty easy to do and brought my temps from mid to high 90's down to the ideal 75-85 range, depending on how hot it is outside. Good luck!

I was actually considering that too only thing stopping me is the vent being opposite of the room on the opposite side of the intake of the tent lol. maybe 30ft+ of ducting. but that actually may be the cheapest option.. although i would hate to go that route and then it NOT drop the temps effectively enough.. that is one of my options though, thanks for your input! appreciated for sure

I also have a 4.5 x 4.5 x 8 grow tent (a different brand i think). Im using T-5's (which runs uber cool) for my grow but Im not sure how you are going to get by without A/C. I know I couldn't. If the central isn't cutting it--Im not sure you have a feasable choice.

Especially THIS summer. Which has already been coined the hottest ever up to this point. It's great you have a cool tube and all-but summer is a challenging time of year to grow indoors during a typical summer. I was warned by my Hydro store guy in March that I would HAVE to get A/C.

You and I both know that tent is a sweat-box without somekind of cooling. I wanted to fore-go AC as well--but I changed my mind in like May (42C with humidex)--and Im in Freakin Canada.

My vote is a small AC unit for the room near or in the tent if possible. ( $100= about 5000 btu window unit which should do the trick) Assuning you don't have your tent in a huge room and access to the window.

Yup exactly man! lol I couldnt wait for winter to get this goin.. and yeah that thing is a sweatbox.

What im going to do first is try to run ducting from our central air to the intake of the tent with a duct fan, most likely 4". Our AC usually runs for the whole period of 12hrs on so i'll try that out. If i don't feel thats cutting it its either portable or window ac.

I think that piping some central air should definitely bring it down 3-4 degrees. Having a 600 in such a small spot can be a pain, and your doing fine. 80 is about normal in that situation for a low 70s room.

If you don't have a strong intake fan, it will be very hard to move that air 30 ft. Could you move your tent?
