Texas Outdoor Grow 2010 . . .

Hey everyone, I've done alot of thinking and have decided to start an outdoor grow instead of giving money to my dealer. I've also done alot of research, so I will try not to ask anything that has already been asked. I live very close to Houston and have alot of woods in my area to grow. What is the best time to plant them? I want to plant them straight into the ground because they will get bigger that way and less chance to get root bound and I won't have to transplant. I bought some PH stick from wallyworld, will this work to test PH in water and soil? Also, I can't get foxfarm ANYWHERE near me, what's a good soil I can use from walmart or home depot? I have a garden center near me but no foxfarm? Any help would be great.

Well the options for soil are: MG organic and Scotts Organic. I know that the ph should be 7 for the soil but I don't know. I can't exactly test the ph before I buy it.

should start 'em indoors if possible. i'm a texas grower myself, plan on starting my seedlings next week. plan to stick em in the ground around the end of march. wherever you're planting you should prep the soil AT LEAST a month before you throw them in the ground. anything else then feel free to ask me. you can use a ph stick from wallyworld for water but not soil. happy growing!
