That space bomb is sooooo frosty! How does she smell? Did you use anything special or just straight Super Soil?

Are you coming to the LA Cup?

not super soil unfortunately mo, coco and mineral nutes. i would say a blend of powdered latex, tonic water, lime and candied cherries would best describe how it smells.

out of interest when is the cup? i have never attended a cannabis event before but i would like to try it one time, what are the rules on non med users?

You can get a rec while you are here. I would highly recommend it - the smoking section is like a smokers dream orgy of breeders, glass artists, medible chefs, vapes, dabs... It is like an MJ Circus/Swap meet. If you want to, you are welcome to stay here with us. I am 5 minutes from Disneyland and an hour from where the Cup is.

Harvest is beginning for me now... I got a tall bitch in a closet waiting to get cut tomorrow morning, and this girl gets it tonight... sorry couldn't get better pics I seem to have the worst luck with cameras they always get jacked up before too long... this is Ace of Spades, day 56ish give or take a day or so... haven't weighed them but I know for sure this will be my smallest yielding ace because the others are all beasts

Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon... checked trichs and they were not as milky/cloudy as I expected, so going to let it go a few more days til they get really milky... I'm checking another now, but I got a fully milky/starting to amber one upstairs that's for sure ready I can trim :) I trimmed one lower branch of the ace already so i'll see what she's like earlier compared to later ;)

Ace of spades Day 47. ReefBongwell you were right to watch for bananas. i found about 7 just starting to form on one of the plants. Thanks for note about watching them at week 7. i have been extra cautious on these plants because of reading that.

i use 1000 watters. i only have 3 AOS from seed but all ended up being female. no topping or training. 10 gallon pots. humididty 40-50%. temps 73-80F night 80-84F. co2 1400-1700ppms. fertilome ultimate potting mix soil. no sign of any bugs or mold. only using fox farm grow and tiger bloom along with big bloom. i give them just enough water so they need it every 2 days. i usually gradually increase by the quarter gallon up to 1 gallon. the root aphids in my hydro alarmed me but im not finding any flying adults stuck dead in the buds like i was months ago. i have all different kinds of strains going in both flower and veg. i aim to harvest a plant or 2 a week. yield varies depending on strain and how big i veg the plant which usually depends on how much room i have for it and i make sure to harvest at least 1 plant every week. this way i can keep a constant cycle of fresh product and a diverse variety in flavors and effects. where i live you can legally have up to 72 plants if you have the paperwork for it. most of my clones i give away free of charge to other people who are both friends and registered in the program. the only problem i have is i never have enough space. i dont use anything for flavoring or hardeners. i've tried all different kinds of shit and spend a ton of money trying this that and the other thing the hydro shops say you need to make your stuff better. seems all gimmick to me. its all in the strain's dna and growing it properly. i've grown quite a few different strains and it seems to me tga subcool is superior to all the other companies i've tried. almost all seeds i order are by them. on top of that the place i bring my stuff for testing, chernobyl was their highest in thc so far. i want to say they told me it was 26% but i cant remember for sure. im going to see if i can beat it with the timewreck. i also plan on ordering quantum kush very soon and giving her a test as well. i'll post pics of my results sometime. its not as sophisticated as the test results on tga subcools website though. where i go they only test thc, cbd, cbn, and it is not cheap. i had 2 chernobyl samples i ran and they were both 24 and 25%. JTR was 22%. any new strains will be tested.

hello Reef'

Your Ace Of Spades remind me my last session, I had 2 Agent orange phenos.
The one with bigger buds gave me less than the other one... no big buds but god damn rocky once dried

a good suprise for me.

we never know with those ladies ;)

To anyone that thinks Vortex is only about mid-buds. I notice some people say thats all they could get from it, but I assure everyone it can get massive colas if you get the right plant. This is a before and after shot of the same cola (pretty sure, they were all huge though....:bigjoint:) between 6-8 weeks, you just really, really, need to let it finish those last 2 weeks.

Here is all the finished product from 3 vortex:

Nice :) Did you chop it after 8 weeks? It doesn't look done in the 8 week photo looks like another week+ did you check trichs, cuz you could probably get even more yield if not :) Unless I start seeing ambers I wait til the hairs recede and the calyxes are super swollen.

She went until 62 days and I staggered the rest. Damn straight, I was not going to chince out on such a great growing plant. No clones though, had to move.:wall:

I like heady cerebral smoke so I really didn't want to go much further. She probably could have gone 70 days if you really wanted to get a full spectrum. The 2 that grew this big where the lime smellers, the fruitier stuff tended to be the smaller bushier vortex.

Vortex has been in my garden ever since that grow, its my main smoke all the time. I am never letting this strain go. Its pretty much my benchmark for all other strains I have smoked since (as far as potency goes).

I still have yet to run vortex.... i should a lot of people swear by it... just haven't gotten to it sub keeps coming out with all these new strains ;) is yours a cherry vortex? i'd definitely be looking for a cherry pheno :)

Sucks giving up strains to have to move... I have to do so after my next flower as well so not taking cuts either.

I know, trust me. I would have re-vegged that monster if I could have had the time just for clones.

The fruity baby poo stuff develops into a banana runt taste when it finishes...I would love to find a cherry tasting one. It sucks because I think this strain got over hyped and now its not the rage, but I still think its the best of subs seeds I have grown so far.

I have done cheesequake and querkle, they were great, but there are so many quick growing indica's to try and only so much space. Honestly I think I am still searching for an indica keeper. Any suggestions with subs seeds? I really want something that I can get some great taste out of. Cheesequake smells great, but the flavor was pretty average, just looking for something with some real punch to it. A medium high with some novelty flavor for guests and such.

I have 2 vortex about to be harvested in a week or so, I'll let you know how a sample goes. One is the fruity type and its from seed so fingers crossed to find a cherry flavored one.

I think Sub is more well known for fast flowering sativas hybrid. There are few indicas on the menu but I think they were all created with some sativa in the back ground as most if not all of his males are hybrids.

Timewreck'd probably be good for you if you're looking for a balanced hybrid that leans a little more indica. It's not on the better tasting side though (not that it's bad just not one of the fruity ones).

For smell/flavor, either Ace of Spades or Plushberry (black cherry soda phenos), space dawg (i've got a wonderful smelling cherry pheno that I literally smelled just moving it around last night not even touching it), qush (has a cherry pheno). Any of the JC2/Jack the ripper crosses may have lemony tastes.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's not that impressed with the smell/flavor of the cheese crosses... i'm hoping my dairy queen I'm getting ready to harvest changes my mind...

As far as indicas, Ace of Spades has some indica phenos. My querkle crosses have been pretty slow growing and I haven't found any that really impressed me a ton yet, so I'd stay away from them unless you just love querkle :) Space dawg has both indica and sativa phenos. But agree with Green Santa that TGA isn't really about indicas, although I have yet to grow out a lot of their newer kush crosses that probably have more indica in them.
