THC Bomb Auto Plants Growing at VERY DIFFERENT Rate

Hey Logan! Thanks for checking in. I haven't harvested yet. This plant seems to like the flowering stage ... it's been doing it for 41 days now! I keep looking through my jeweler's loupe every day waiting for the trichomes to turn amber (or even cloudy, for that matter) but they are still predominantly clear (I approximate about 75% of them are clear). I'm attaching a photo of the plant and of the trichomes (albeit taken with my cell phone camera). The seed germination started on February 5th, so this little lady has been cooking for over 3 months now. Again, being an absolute beginner, I don't know if all this is happening right or not ... just going on what I always read that you don't harvest until trichomes turn amber (or at least cloudy).

Since this is my 1st grow, I also don't have any idea in looking at the plant if the yield is looking like something you would expect from this plant (although, it looks pretty promising to me ... just don't know what it will translate into after trimming and drying. I would be most interested in knowing how does it look to you?

Thanks again in advance for your comments and opinions!
... Don

I meant to say, my lord man it looks like you're gonna pull more off of her than I did either of mine (maybe 2-3oz off of two?), maybe more frosty as well lol. :P Awesome job man.

Hey Logan! Read up on everything you mentioned regarding flushing with a hydroponic system and I now see what you say, and more importantly, why it's done. Others use Florakleen as well ... some were proposing "Flawless Finish". So, then I searched to find RO water sources. From what I found, seems that I either have to pay an outrageous amount of money per gallon (~ $18/gal at Walmart) or invest in a RO system which would be approx. $150 - $200. I have no problem making the investment if that's the right way to go (after all, I have already invested a bunch in LED lights, Grow Box, Temp/rH automatic controllers, humidifier, etc. etc. etc.) ... my father always told me, "Son, why do something 'half-assed' if you can do it 'whole-assed'?" So which way did you go to get your RO water?

And BTW ... your 'lengthy' responses are truly appreciated ... your time has a value associated with it and I appreciate you sharing it for the purpose of helping educate me.

Buy an RO system off amazon with good reviews. They are dirt cheap, the filters last a long while, are also dirt cheap. My water comes out at 30ppm, and that's only because I got one that adds back some calcium to the water. It's a great investment. My water starts over 800ppm from the tap.

I was spending $5 + a $10 deposit for 5 gallons 2-3 times a week in flower. Factor in convenience and you're saving so much time and money it's definitely the way to go.

Thanks, Mr. Head ... I'll check that out. I was looking at Amazon earlier when I saw the mainly $150 - $200 systems (with many more of them costing much more than that). You confirmed my suspicions about the ongoing expense of buying individual containers of the water.

Yes as bad as it sucks, if you plan on doing hydro, RO isn't a neccessity but it makes life a hell of a lot easier. I agree with Mr Head. If you can't get an RO system before you need to flush I'm sure tap water would still work just fine. I've used it for flush before. Amazon is a great place for cheap and effective RO systems...you'll pay 2x as much at any hardware store. Lmao yeah that's 100% right; nothing done halfway is worth doing at all in the end. I really don't know much about Florakleen and other products, you kinda just have to trust that they do what they say, and I don't like that...it hasn't caused any problems for me though. I've done with and without, can't note any big differences. If it makes you feel better, an RO system is literally the only thing I think you're missing from having EVERYTHING needed for hydro, lol it can feel like a train of never-ending-shit to buy but I think an RO system would complete your entire setup. Definitely the right way to go. I tried using tap water, distilled water, and they all gave me some PH fluctuation...my RO system finally stabalized it all and I haven't regretted it since! And no problem at all I type as fast as I talk anyhow, lmao. Keep us posted, hope all the timing lines out right with the seedlings!

Between you and Mr. Head, I'm convinced. Ordering one tonight and gonna try and get expedited shipping. The FloraKleen that I ordered earlier today won't be in till Wednesday anyways.

Woo! Woo! Yep, there's the sound of that train's whistle again! Seems to keep getting louder and louder ... but, I guess that's the inevitable sound of "doing things whole-assed", right? :-)

Haha yes absolutely! This should be the last stop on that train until you decide to upgrade stuff though so feel free to kick back and enjoy your upcoming harvest! Hell honestly you can flush your plants just fine with tap water/distilled water if you can't get your RO system installed in time. Mainly just need the system to be up and running for your next. :) But yeah from what I see, here on out should be on cruise control, but if you're like me you constantly find things to upgrade/buy better versions of lol, so it can be hard to kick back and appreciate just how complete your grow already is! Lol. What strains are you planning on growing next Studio?

Well, a little background first. I'm a cancer patient and started using weed about 2 years ago for pain relief on my treatment days ... oxycodones from my cancer doc help but don't quite get me there with the type of pain I have for several days after each treatment. Buying what I needed has proven to be prohibitively expensive (~ $300/month) over time. My only realistic option is to grow my own since I don't live in one of the states where medical marijuana is legal. With all of that in mind, I have to have roughly an ounce per month to handle my situation. Considering that the average grow cycle is >= 3 months (seed to smoke-able), that means I need strains that have the following characteristics:

1) High THC for most pain relief
2) High CBD for fighting the cancer ... although it's really hard to find both THC and CBD high in the same strain that also has high yield potential ... the pain relief is the higher and more immediate priority
3) High yield ... need to exceed 4 ounces for each grow to stay supplied ... grow box fits 2 plants comfortably without any light coverage problems
4) Low Height ... grow box only accommodates plants up to 3 ft.

That kind of narrows the field. Right now, I'm looking at Girl Scout Cookies Auto. Any ideas for me?
