THC, UV B, and Me

hello all. Check out my journal to see whats in the mix as of right now. I made this thread because i recently added a UV B light to my 2 plant micro grow but i was wonder if anyone has done tests as to how long to leave the thing on for. Right now it turns on for 5 hours in the middle of my 12 hour on schedule. Ive seen a few videos, ive read some threads but im just looking for feedback from people who have used a UV b themselves. Mine is 14w 5% uvb btw

I use UVB lighting on my reptiles but never used it on my plants. Like to see how this goes

I just read one of my UVB light boxes and it is a 6500K full spectrum

bump back to the front, my bulb didnt come in the box so i dont know what kelvin it is but im guessing its 6500k. its a really blue like in comparison to the hps it almost looks like a blacklight

they make different strengths. The one I had in the Box was a 2.0, and they go up to as hight as 10.0. which is used for desert reptiles. It has a blueish tinge but not like a black light.

ya blueish but i said when compared beside my 2700k hps which makes it look purple. ya mines 5.0% so seems to be right in the middle. doesnt seem to be too much info out there on this

i'm trying the same thing on my plant. but i've been leaving mine on the whole 12. and i know that is too much because all the leaves on that side is turning brown. good luck tho

i bet we have the same one. just thru the box out a couple days ago

thanks for the feedback token u actually did help considerably. i was just thinking to myself that 5 hours might not be enough. i might just leave it now and see how it goes considering im already on day 40 of 12/12 and just added it yesterday dont want to mess anything up

no problem......but again thats just my experience. right after i posted. i went to my cab and took it out. might put it back in later. i just want to see it that was causing it or not.

Hey ive got this growbook i use n stuff and for the UV it says that using
UV light can make resin production skyrocket.
But it says to use it in three, 10 min intervals throughout the day.

That is exactly what I was thinking, cycle for short intervals for the whole 12 hours.

Yeah..Cuz the whole " i keep it on for 12hrs "
doesnt really sound 'healthy' Remember that
UV lights put off radiation...So i think thats
where using short cycles came from.

sweet thank you, might be time for another heavy duty timer that can be be set 100times in a day lol

maybe run them a few feet above the normal lamps for a few hours? If you want to do 12/12 with them as a supplement then maybe distance woudln't hurt as bad?

the way i understand it, you should use strong uv light at the last week, and use it for full 12 hours. The plant will think its going to die, and start producing more resin as a way to try and protect the plant.
