I dunno where you get that a seedling can't survive under 200 watts led. Ive started seedlings under more thana 200 watts of led. Its not light that will kill them its heat and potential to bleach them. Its fairly easy to fix by just raising the lights height, shouldnt be that close to plants to start seedling anyway. Or dimm them if able.

It's a rule because there is no vegging allowed, meaning so you can use a blue spectrum veg light and switch it under a more suitable flowering red spectrum. You need to do it under one, usually being flowering light since its 12/12 from seed.

Its also a rule so that someone cant use say a 300 watt hid and then switch over to 600 or 1000 watt hps. To keep playing field as level as possible by everyone having to use whatever lights they start with all the way through, thats what makes up part of the challenge. Without leveling playing completely by forcing everyone use same exact light/brand/watts etc. Which would be extremely hard to do not to mention no one would compete if they had to go out buy lights specially for this comp.

Sure there are other reasons as well, maybe frozen will chime in as well. Its always been a rule.
if I can't switch lights during the grow I can't participate. My flowering spaces are 90% full at all times. no way to mix in a seedling amongst the rest of the plants without adding a light for the juvenile period.

Have fun y'all, but I'll bow out now.

Why not just toss them into the flower room.... should be fine. Bot seeing why they cant occupy the 10% :p
she will get shaded out and needs a temporary light until they grow up. I also change lights around once initial stretch is over. too much special handling.

Gee willikers Batman, it looks like some amazingly handsome individual edited the Solo Cup Company entry on Wikipedia, (you'll find it under the "Customer" section), and it goes a little something like this:

"They are also used by the cannabis growing community as small pots and are also the inspiration and the preferred growing container in alternative online-community cannabis growing competitions where the object of the competition is to flower a cannabis plant according to a set group of rules using 16 oz. Solo cups as the growing container and then the competitors, and in some case sponsors, vote on which entrant's plant they find the most appealing according to each voter's own personal criteria."
I wonder how long it will last before someone, (probably at the Solo Cup Company), deletes it:cuss:? Who knows though, maybe the CEO of the Solo Cup Company is a stoner and likes the idea :eyesmoke:. I bet the person who wrote that would really appreciate it if someone does happen to delete the above paragraph from the Wiki entry that some fine upstanding RIUer would then take a moment to just cut and paste that info back in. A little publicity never hurt anyone, right? Wellllllll maybe the Cup-host of course but it's winter in Alaska which I assume gives our host @FrozenChozen some time for the duties he actually seems to enjoy, (psycho!). LOL

I once read a beautiful simile, I can't recall it in it's entirety, but it went something like this: Imagine walking through a field of flowers, only walking in one direction and never turning back. As you walk through this field, you encounter flowers of all varieties, but as you pass them by they are never to be seen again. Love is when you find the most amazing flower you've seen thus far, and you keep it with you upon your journey. And although you may encounter even more beautiful plants with larger flowers later in your journey, walking through this field, you remain loyal and true to the choice that you've made.

That's kinda how this comp is.

Your phenomenal host is still hard at work scouring the pages of RIU for paid advertisers willing to "sponsor" our contest.... Rest assured, I have thus far done my due diligence! I'd like to take a moment and thank returning support from : @GorillaSeedBank & @Midweek Song
-All of us here at the party cup competition would like to sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Some of us wouldn't be returning to this competition without your continued gracious love for our community!
I'd also like to take a moment to thank @Stephenj37826 from Johnson Grow Lights, I had a wonderful and enlightening conversation with you this morning. I look forward to having one of your fine products given to a fantastic grower for their efforts this round. I hope that everyone who chose (or chooses) to stay on the side this round, really considers the benefits that LED COBs hold. They are our future, and to have great companies that stand behind their products with pride and science means that our industry/hobby can flourish! Thank you for your support Stephen! I hope that business and life find you well, and that the sun (natural or artificial!) always lights your path! I can wait to talk with you more and figure out what you have in store for these guys!
I'm talking as well with @headshopheadquarters and @SmokeCartel trying to convince them that our contest is worthy of their support. For now, I'd like to thank them for their time and consideration of us as a community....

I want to also take them time to remind EVERYONE that :
