cta.. I germed with the nute tabs that came with unit, howeer I switcheed over to "dro" nutes A.S.A.P. I use General Hydroponics flora series and so far it is working excellent. No nute burns, solid (healthy) plants, and very easy to mix. Many ppl use the fox farms system because it is organic, but I plan to flush ( to get rid of any chem.) Not pushing GH's products just speaking from first hand experience.

Built-in Plant Lighting System:
  • The Aero Garden lets you grow plants anywhere in your home…any time of year. The unit emits a full daylight spectrum that is energy efficient and allows you to grow anywhere…no natural sunlight needed.
Computerized “Smart” Garden Technology:
  • 100% success guaranteed; no green thumb needed. The built-in reminder system in the control panel automatically alerts you to add water and nutrients. The built-in light timer automatically turns lights on and off…no setup required.

Aeroponic Optimizing Chamber:
  • The Aeroponic Optimizing Chamber creates a near-perfect rainforest-growing environment. Plant roots are suspended in air in the 100% humidity, highly oxygenated aeroponic growing chamber and bathed with ideal levels of nutrients and water for maximum growth. Plants grow 5 times faster in the aeroponic AeroGarden than in dirt. Just add water and nutrients and you’re ready to grow.
Puts a Master Gardener Right in Your Home

Those nutrients might actually be fine for the plant as long as you keep the ph at 5.8-6.3

I dont see why it would hurt....

If you see anything noticable like an unhealthy looking plant then stop using the tablets....

But I say go for it just use the tablets...

I should ask from what seed kit did the tablets come from?

With fox farm you give like a teaspoon of a couple different nutes once a week...There is an Adobe Acrobat Feeding schedule on Fox Farms Home Page...

P.S. Your plants look GREAT!

Peace

hi i'm new. i'v read about 20 pages of this post and i am sold. i just need to know some enfo because i'm sort of new :x. if i am going to use a random seed from a good batch what nutreinets should i use? what should i do about the problem with the lighting only being able to go so high? is it a must for me to alter the lighting setup system on the system? if so what is the most effective way you folks have discovered so far? should i use the tomatoe setting or what should i do when it comes to timers? sorry to bother but i'm sure you understand :D?

Hey everyone! I been reading this forum for a few weeks now and was completely psyched that people were using AG to grow. I just got my AG a couple of days ago and started setting up my grow room area. I have some old seeds I hung onto and will see what happens.

Tek, you are a good man and I appreciate all your great advice to everyone. It has inspired me to start this venture and I wanted to give you props (merciless too)!!!

A few questions as I am a newbie to anyone out there reading:

1) Do you keep the lights off during the germination stage but keep the water running? Basicall, just pop the seeds in and go?

2) Is it better to keep the paper covering over the pods or can you take it off or do you think it makes any difference? What about putting those plastic caps covers on?

fyi, I went to radio shack and bought a extened figure-8 cord (6 bucks) works perfect to separate the light from the resevoir timer (thanks, merciless!).

I'll upload some pictures as things get going. Thanks everyone who is making this AG venture happen!!!

alright well this all sounds great. i'm going to check out what foxfarm has to offer. when it comes to light the 2 48watt tall lights sound good too. Would a High Pressure Sodium light be better??? Tek how did you split your hood to get more heigth? what do you guys use to control temp?

I left the AG running normally on Salad Greens until I was ready to flower, at which point I plugged the light unit into a seperate timer. I left the unit on Salad Greens the entire time.

Def. keep the paper covers on the pods at all times, it prevents light from getting into the reservior, which causes algea growth.

Nice! Yea, works great for me too! can't wait to see the pics! Is exciting to see everyone else's methods and techniques :) Exciting times ahead for all..

Yes a hps will be loads better. My personal preference if you are going to use one light all the way through is mh. You get stockier plants, and I believe slightly more yield than hps.

the aero is on the way. just got a 400watt ballister, (the blue spectrum veg light) HD? a cheap reflecter to hold it all, foxfarm grow big and foxfarm tigerbloom. will the pump on the aerogarden get so hot that i need to regulate water temp some how? will the do it yourself PH check liquid sample thingy work with aerogarden or do i need an electronic Ph and Temp checker?

the fool forgot the wires that connect the light to the ballaster so i have to go grab it tomorrow and i'm gonna scoop up the 400watt HPS as well >:]. any other recomendations?

and as for making the hood on the garden taller...what exactly do i do? i know "splice" the wire...but what does that mean? do i cut the wire and add extentions some how? please explane :D! when this is all worked out i will share with all

Here's my update...I need to pull them this weekend, if not sooner. The weekend provides privacy. Im curious to see how much it'll be, weight wise. Here's some back up, since I haven't posted in a while.

Planted seeds in aero nov 5
moved to cabinet under hps to flower
using fox farm
got GOOD seeds, started for mothers in soil
have a 2nd aerogarden on the way for clones
using the 2nd aero to double the output
I'll do a scog thing to keep the plants controllable

I am left with 2 plants, but they are nice sized. I did NOT let any of them grow straight. Once the light hit its limit I used rope and tied down the branches as they got too close. This, in turn, caused those branches under the main bud to really shine. They are the most resinous, a couple of branchs covered in bud, about 8-10 inches long. One plants is ready to go, probably both. I've been using a small microscope to check the trichomes and finally saw cloudiness today. I'll cut them down either thursday or friday and have a good place to dry them. I've got canning jars I am going to use to cure. That would make it just shy of 3 full months, seed to harvest.
