hey everyone! i have been lookin at this page for months now and i just now got registered and so i wanna share my knowledge of the aerogarden system and hopefully get alot more. im running two aerogardens. one with big plants for now and the other with clones from those big plants, both started flowering the same time (big ones about a month and a half of veg, the clones zero veg). over the big plants im running the Sun System 2 foot, 4 bloom t5 fluoros at about 100 watts give or take total. the clones have the normal aerogarden hood that i swapped power chord out of so it runs from a timer not the aero garden. so my aeros are running 24 hours and my lights are on the same 12/12 cycle. and im using tinfoil on the walls for a cheap mylar alt. also using golden grow bloom nutes. i have not sexed yet since they have been flwering for only a week but i will post pics as soon as i figure out what im doing on here lol.

anyone and everyone with an aerogarden get back to me!

yo if i have a 400 watt MH and HPS do i even need to use the aerogarden light? i only plan on growing one or two plants in the aero so the plant would have room to chunk out.

Nope! In fact, the entire light hood can be removed..and for $5 you can go to radio shack and buy the "figure 8" cord so you could plug the light hood in seperately (perhaps to use for sprouting clones or new seedlings, or growing the moms).

Hendrixsklz...

I got my 2nd aero today and am going to do clones. I have mothers (hopefully) growing in soil. I am planning on using rockwool cubes to start the clones in, cut down to a size that will fit into the plastic holders that come with the seed kits. Question is, what are you using, how are they taking to the aero...any other tips on starting clones in the aero would be appreciated.

Thanks!

B

for my cloning aero, i cloned with dip'n grow. and i bought the cheap cheap brown foam cubes smallest size i found and i rip one off and shape it with my fingers to the size of the plastic holder and shove it in there and every single of my first seven clones is alove and well with huuuuuge roots they love the setup. they did wilt on the lower leaves a bit for a few days but they bounced back strong. im not giving them any nutes either just plain water.

Has anyone attempted to grow shorter "bushes" rather than tall slim stalks?
Can it even be done?
How close does the light get to the little grow pod things? Can it be adjusted to sit directly over the holes?
How long will the lights last if they're on 24hrs a day? Is leaving the light on 24hrs a day a bad idea?
What's the most you can yield from one machine?
I've always wanted to grow. I just ordered the marigarden so I can follow my dream. I read somewhere that 24hr light makes for more potent plants. I also read that it's possible to train a plant to grow out instead of up. I am going to try for short and bushy. Any tips or advise?

hey all, when you use the aerogarden, what settings have proved useful? I've never actually seen one close enough to examine it...what are all the settings and what do they do?

By pruning, or topping your plants will create width rather than height. You can top as many times as you like to as many branches as you like.

Not sure what all the settings do... The manual doesnt give accurate times for the lights or pumps at different settings.

If you set it to "Salad Greens" the water pump will run 24/7 -
Most growers disconnect the light from the aerogarden and use the light on its own timer... 18/6 veg... with pump running 24/7 on Salad greens...

Not sure what the other settings do exactly, just other sets of timers for pumps and lights... not needed for our use...

hey im looking into buying an aerogarden and growing with it. But i was wondering if it was possible to still grow a decent amount without disconnecting the light and just leaving it at its original height, and pruning the tops off of my plants( i need to do this because of a space issue.)

Im also wondering how long I should let them veg under this and how long to induce flowering

I recieved my A.G. and now, three days later I have 5 sprouts and 2 no-shows. I'll give them a couple of more days then replace the seeds. I really want some highgrade seeds engineered for indoor aero. I don't know what I'm growing right now except that it's not the crem dela crem. Can anyone reccomend a good online seed store? And what strain is good for this system?

Can an A.G. be used to keep mothers alive? And for how long?
Can you clone with the A.G.?

Sorry for all of the question but I'm like Neo looking for the Matrix.

cloning - for sure!

keep a mother alive - ya but she would have to live alone and be smallish - its only 1 gal reservoir.

Veggin for about 4 weeks now, and they are more then ready to move to the grow room - If your keeping them in the Aerogarden, you will want to flower EARLY!

as for seeds, i have no advice... some good folks on this board keep posting Green man's Seedbank Update as a great place to start...

check out merciless_one's post - he has had great results solely using the aerogarden.

I was wondering if it was worth buying an aero garden, or if i would just be better off setting up my own aeroponic/hydroponic system(dont have big budget tho only 200$), and do u have to order the aero garden online or can you buy it in any stores?

You can't buy the Aerogarden in any stores that I know of...I DO know that Bed Bath and Beyond will allow you to order it off their website, retails at $149.99 (like everywhere else), they don't carry it in any of their stores, but I recommend using BBB. The shipping will be $11.95 (have to pay shipping from anywhere anyway), but due to their ultra-relaxed return policy, you can experiment with the Aerogarden for as long as you want to and return it without question (YES even 5 years later if you wanted to!!), so if you have the money to put up, this is a great way to experiment, knowing that if you decide it's not satisfying your grow needs, you can simply return it to the nearest store...(i worked there that's why I know all this). Any questions about BBB's policy I can answer!

OH and if you go into the store to make your online purchase, you can use your big blue coupons (20%) that you may or may not get in the mail incessantly. They take expired coupons, but you can't use any of them online from your house, you need to go into the store and have them process the order for you, and your new price will be $119.99 + $11.95 + your local sales tax rate.

ok thx, can i go and like have them order it to the store and then go by and pick it up, and do u think that its worth the 150$?

i got it as a gift. thats the only reason i have one. If i had a choice i would take the cash and build a deep water culture tank from home depot and wal mart. But, since i got it, im using it... I also ordered 2 DWC units from an EBAY store for $80 including shipping. A way better deal then the aero... but no light with it...

DWC kicks ass. The trouble with the aerogarden is that it is just too small. The best thing to do is copy it's design, only much, much bigger!
