The BEST way to Germinate Seeds

Just wanted to let peeps know how i germinate cuz apparently iv been quite successful,iv had 3 grows with 1 male in each, and out of 7 seeds each time only 1 failed to germinate.they all germinated within 3days

I use: plastic tupperware box
3 sheets of kitchen paper
warm water
spray mister
thin towel if neccessary

Pretty simple really,although long winded.
Soak the seeds in a cup for 24hrs first.

Fold the paper towel in half n spray it with warm water using the mister so it gets wet but not too much (you dont want it dripping), fold the paper yet again and place the seeds near the crease of the fold you have just made so that they are sandwiched in the paper, then place it in the box with the lid slightly ajar, the box needs to stay dark so if it is a see thru box wrap a thin towel around it.

Then put the box ontop of a household appliance which generates heat in a certain place all of the time.
For example i use my water boiler,i put the box ontop where it is warm to touch (not hot),other appliances such as ps2s,PCs n some tvs can get warm ..........but it must stay warm all the time so you may have to do some moving around if you dont have anywhere that permenantly stays warm.

You will need to keep checking the seeds are still moist,if they become slightly dry spray luke warm water on the paper.

When you start to see white shoots:lol: ... plant them with the white shoots facing down, try not to touch them unless you have really clean hands,i use tweezers just to be sure.

After 24-48 hrs you should start to see some results...if not keep waiting,it could take upto 10 days,

........thats what i do anyways, works for me :weed:
good luck:bigjoint:

i have great results b4 i go to sleep i put some seeds in a cup of water where its warm wake up in the morn. put the seeds in rockwool or dirt depending on if its hdro or soil than place em under a cfl till they sprout and they usually all sprout and you dont have to mess with a cracked seeds taproot that you may contaminate with your greasy little fingers

I cant get theese fuckers to get past the germinating stage cuz once ths sprout they stop growing.

The only thing i can think of is leaving the paper towel too wet.

Is this a big problem?

I need help too with getting theese seeds to germinate,
.

I have been thru $200 in seeds and still have none of them get past this point.

Help a brotha out........................

+1 soak overnight, then plant in rapid rooter. It seems like the most natural and straight-forward method.

I don't care for the paper towel method because I don't like the idea of handling the sprouts; also I've read (Cervantes & Soma) that removing the sprouts from the paper towel can damage invisible micro-roots.

Whatever you like that works is good. However for soil grows, every breeder I've read or communicated with advises to just put the seeds straight into damp soil about a centimeter down. Dome the top or use a 16oz dixie cup with a baggie over the top until you have a sprout. Soaking them first is fine but you want them to sprout in the soil. Edit - sprouting in the rapid rooters is fine too because you don't ever disturb the roots.

I received these same basic instructions for getting the best results from Shantibabba when doing a test grow for the Mr Nice seed company. Look on the breeder sites, read the instructions and you'll see.

Can you save seeds once they have started to sprout but then stopped? Did the soak, then paper towel. Two sprouted fine, three did nothing. Gave the three another soak, two started sprouting. Put four into peat plugs, now two are strong, the second two have have done nothing and the fifth still has no sprout showing after putting back in the paper towels. 60% failure rate isn't good : (

I've had great success using Rapid Rooters. In fact, I'll be germing some white widows tonight!! :)

i also have a little plant that seems to have stopped growing.. might just be me being paraniod cause its still very young but i duno.. i have doubts..
PLant is about 2-3 days old..
Paper towel method to soil..
sprouted well and fast, but once the first (fake) leaves opened the first set havent really come out yet, or slowly coming out..
Is this just slow growth or did i do somethign wrong?
I guess all i can do it wait but anyone have this before aswell

put the seeds straight into your medium mist over cover with cling film keep in dark at 21-23* for 70-80hrs and once the lift the soil remove the cling and give it light.
piece of piss.no fucking about transplanting germed seeds or carefull planting avoiding the already stressed root tip fucking around planting it tip down.
i have used paper towels and it always worked but its just a waste of time and aint worth the effort when you can just drop the seed into the medium and let nature do its thing.

The paper towel method worked best for me. I used a heating pad to warm them in a seed tray with a 3" humidity dome, covered the whole thing with a bath towel to keep it warm and dark. I put a piece of cardboard over the heating pad to prevent it from getting too hot.

I tried germinating in rock wool but the seeds got stuck in the medium and couldn't come up to the surface. I had to take them out and remove the pods. All three I started this way are still alive after about 4 weeks. I think the newer rock wool is too compacted for this method.

I'm trying to germinate some 10 year old seeds. I know my chances are slim to none. I was going to try just keeping them in a cup of water because supposedly the problem with old seeds is a lack of moisture. I wondering what kind of germination rate people get with this method?

Calm down Mr. Ganja and take another toke bongsmilie

I have no problems germinateing but once they crack and the root cums out they just stop growing??????????

I thought of they way i was watering them and said to myself that maybe im am getting the towel too wet and theese lil fuckers can breath with all the water inside. Plus i get really stoned sumtimes before i start messing around with the seeds , No a good idea.:eyesmoke:

I have started to germ. them and will wait to see the out cum.

Sorry to hyjack this thread but thanx for the reply :peace:

I've heard from some really experienced growers that if you have very old seeds (more than three years) that won't pop directly in your medium then sometimes you can use heat, paper towels, scuffing, etc. to get them to pop. Other than that just put them directly into the medium and keep them moist until they sprout.

ok i will clear the air srry. dont use a paper towel do what i said.

dont use a paper towel ther are too many ways you can damage a seeds taproot like sum1 said erlyer it could stick a little andd when ya pull it off it can be damaged. you want to avoud contact with that tap root best way to do that is to plant the seed b4 it cracks and once it sprouts dont water it too much you dont wanna rot it out b4 it grows which sounds like your problem i would suggest soaking it over night then planting it in the pot its gonna live in first water the entire pot real well then just push the seed in up to about a quarter inch good rule is the seed goes twice as deep as it is wide. you can screw up the tap root when you take it off the paper towel you can screw up the taproot by touching it with your greasy lil fingers you could screww up the tap root by planting it in a hole and snaping it without knowing or crushing it or a lot of other reasons so soak it over night water pot well plant seed i put mine under a cfl but it really doesnt need light til its above soil, and keep it warm

No worries T-bone

dont use a paper towel ther are too many ways you can damage a seeds taproot
Yeah i found this out the hard way. lol

you want to avoud contact with that tap root best way to do that is to plant the seed b4 it cracks and once it sprouts dont water it too much you dont wanna rot it out b4 it grows which sounds like your problem
Yeah this is a problem that i do have, i always seem to over water them in the 1st few weeks, this is a bad habbit, i think they need to be watered and they really dont.

i would suggest soaking it over night then planting it in the pot its gonna live in

first water the entire pot real well then just push the seed in up to about a quarter inch

good rule is the seed goes twice as deep as it is wide.

you can screw up the tap root when you take it off the paper towel you can screw up the taproot by touching it with your greasy lil fingers you could screww up the tap root by planting it in a hole and snaping it without knowing or crushing it or a lot of other reasons

so soak it over night water pot well plant seed i put mine under a cfl but it really doesnt need light til its above soil, and keep it warm
Thanx, i will have to try it this way and see how it works for me. This is a much easier way of do it ans i dont have to keep checking it all the time to see if that damn root is out yet.:cuss:
