I was up most of last night posting a retroactive grow journal. I actually did an extremely condensed version, because I have notes, stats and pics from almost everyday on every plant since I got my MMU and the bright idea to "save money and grow my own". LOLOLOL
Now that I have that posted, I am very honored to be included in your wonderful group!!! I have certainly tried to kill my grow in a lot of ways, and learned so much from you great people, that I hope to get a chance to pay it forward at some point!!

I may be slightly off topic here but I gotta report in on what the brown truck brought today. My new Da Buddah Vaporizer!

I am blown away, figuratively and literally. I put enough for about 3 bong hits, not even big ones, in there and I couldn't even feel the smoke (well, it isn't smoke) and got a big hit and was toast. My wife too another big one, we were done. I looked in the bowl and no more than 1/4 had been used.

I wish I had gotten one a lot sooner. I can believe I will only use half as much bud with this. According to my stoned calculation - that means if I bought two of these, I wouldn't need to use any bud at all!

LOL !!!!!!!

I like your calulation ! But, I do have two vapes, and I still use buds ! Maybe I am doing something wrong ???

Haha congrats on the new buy ! Vapes rock !! Does that vape have a bag attachment ? You can fill a bag and leave it for HOURS ! Since it isn't smoke, it doesn't go stale ! so cool.

I've never used a vaporizer. Never even seen one (except on the internet and TV). Looks like I'm going to have to put it on my list. Hopefully, they come with instructions. Any recommendations??

Want to try something VERY different today?

Find a large light bulb. Any bulb will do.

Now get a hack saw, a saw with a metal cutting blade, and cut the end of the bulb off, leaving the threads. Go slow, use long slow strokes, and it will cut easily.

You have to hold the bulb firmly, but do not hold it so tightly that you break it. Just saw the 1/6 to 1/4 inch end off.
You will find inside, a ceramic part, and the element that makes the light. Take a screw driver or needle nosed pliers and empty out the bulb. Squeeze the ceramic part with pliers to break it, adn it will then fall out.Just ream it out. Remove the ceramic and the element. You do leave the metal threads on the outside end.
If you had a FROSTED Bulb, then fill it with two tablespoons of salt, and shake it and shake it, and the salt will remove the frosting.

Now get a bottle cap from a bottle of water, and drill two small holes, 1/4 in diameter, in the bottle cap.

Yea, that is my fat beer belly.

That bottle cap will screw on the end of the bulb perfectly.

Now get about two or three feet lenght of 1/4 inch tube, like you use on your airstones and feeder tubes.
Stick 1/2 inch of the tube in the bottle cap, and glue it or use a pin to fasten it to stay. The other hole is your SHOTGUN hole.

Figure out a way to rest the bottle over a flame, over a candle, or over a hot stove eye. You want to HEAT the bottle, but not burn yourself.
DO NOT TOUCH THE BOTTLE.

DO NOT TOUCH THE BOTTLE.

DO NOT TOUCH THE BOTTLE.

You load a small 1/4 inch ball of pot, the size of an english pea into the bottle, screw the cap on, and rest the bottle over a flame. Within a minute or two, the bottle will fill up with VAPOR, NOT Smoke, but a VAPOR, or like steam. Hit it. Two hits will blow you away, you get more THC and less canabanol. For two mintues, you will think "I didn't get any" but after a few mintues, your head will spin.

Let me know how it went for you or if you have any questions.

The lightbulb might be cheaper but the Da Buddah vaporizer has some advantages. The same company that makes Da Buddah makes the Silver Surfer. I did a good bit of research and found it to be about the next best thing to the high end Volcano which sells for like $700. Da Buddah is basically the no frills version of the Silver Surfer. I paid $159 for mine from gotvape.com. Shipping was fast and you get a whole kit including a great heavily padded carrying case to protect the glass parts. I think it will pay for itself in a few months.

 That's funny right there!!! Thanks for the truly hearty laugh!

Vaporizers rock!!! I only use my pipe when I absolutely can't wait the few short moments for the vape to heat up and be ready (i.e., severe upper GI attack, which waits for nothing).

Cool - thanks much Smile. I'm going to check out that vaporizer and watch that video. The "creative" part of me has to try the lightbulb now! LOL

Illegal Smile - looking at both Silver Surfer and Big Buddah, they both look like direct inhale vapes ? No bag system ? Just wondering. I have a volcanoe (old) and a Vapir One. Like em both a lot, I am just wondering how you dig your new unit. Looks real cool and slick.

Forgot to post this earlier.... "The Superior Vaporization Technique" which I got from a vape vendor site, but can't remember which one now! I've had this .pdf for a while, and it's pretty long-winded, but does have a lot of vaporizer info that isn't easily found elsewhere.

BTW, as far as temperatures go, you don't want to reach 397F for MJ, as that's when it combusts and then you're inhaling smoke instead of vapor, defeating the whole purpose. ;)

Right, da buddah doesn't have a bag, but I think you can get one as an add-on. It is very well made and while plain, still drips quality. It does take time to get out, plug in, heat up. But I can see where it can be a fun ritual.

I never really considered that all that fire and combustion is very violent to those delicate little trichs we cultivate :). I tried some harsh sugar leaves and it was so smooth if I closed my eyes I couldn't tell if I was getting any - till it got me. Plus a little really goes a much longer way.

Thanks I'll read that! I also have an upper GI problem, lots of gas, probably a hiatal hernia. I have often thought that smoke might be irritating it somehow because after I smoke I often get gas attacks. I'm hoping the vape bears that theory out.

The SSV is nice. I have no complaints. Nice and adjustable, cool glass knobs to make it personal, and many other accessories. Took no time to get a "custom" designed knob and heater cover. I want to say just over a week. I have the etched glass so it stays attached nicely, and twist out easily. They have the other plain glass that is not hands free but you can get a shoe horn type fork that will make it hands free. The newer ones have a metal base option which gives it a nice feel and keeps it where you sit it.
