Well here we are at 4 weeks and 3 days old, switched lights to 12/12 sunday and they are starting to show signs of sex so I think I'm going back to 20/4. I'll veg for a bit longer and take clones from lower nodes and tops.

Hey you should really get a 35x digital scope (i got one that hooks up to usb) - you can determine preflowers at 3-5 weeks without going to 12/12 -- that is not ideal for the plant as putting it into flowering enough to show flowers and taking it back out is a stress on the plant. If the scope isn't an option you can also cover just one branch and that branch will start showing flowers but not the rest of the plant... but get the digital scope it's worth it. It'll also let you see your trichs up close at harvest time and look up close for pests and problems. Very handy.

Thanks Reef, yes I pulled it out and this is what I got. Definately one female and one male. They are in number sequence.

Looks like the other 3 are likely females to me :) kinda looks like they might even have pistils there but it's hard to tell from the photo... sometimes i have to really vary the angle to see for sure.

Watch for the hairs. That is the key.

Spotting male flowers proved more difficult for me, but someone
pointed out that male flowers are often on a small stalk where female
flowers are more sitting right on the stalk.

I found that my mothers had to get pretty bushy before I saw what I needed.

Check my "Crop #3" link below. I posted images of each mother and the
pre-flower that I managed to find.

Good luck,

JD

Yes, balls are on a stalk if you put them in an extended dark period, the stalk will extend. You usually can't tell without putting them in the dark. The way to tell boys is to look for the claw holding the ball :)

Depending on how fast they get up and growing again I'm looking at another 20 to 25 days before I go to flower. I am going for 8 tops on each plant and I might try for 16 on one of the 5 gallon buckets.

Time for a little update, they are starting week 8 and I have all the ladies cut for 8 and bent. I'm still looking at one of the 5 gallon buckets to try and go 16 with.

Excellent control.

I am still SOGing and do not have the luxury of training.

I hope to add this to a future grow.

Thanks for sharing.

I grew six photoperiod Somango budsicles as part of a SOG grow.

It is my favorite so far, and on flavor, though it is strong too. :0)

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Thank Stone, they are a labor of love...lol. I will have vegged these for 60 days before flowering, I do belive it was worth it. The SOG is a new concept for me so it will be interesting to see how it does.

It's that time of year and I've got things ready. Holes dug, lined and soil in place along with drip line to provide water at a rate of 1/2 gallon/hour. I'm a month ahead of last years Secret Garden so here are the ladies goin outdoors.
