The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Dude I just priced some evo 288 boards with sanan red/Uv/ir pretty attractive pricing. But also had the same concern about authenticity
If they are doing anything custom for you just ask them for a spectrum test in prototyping stage. If no go then theres a few on the board (or adjacent/ex-posters) that have decent spectrometers that might help. Cobshop comes to mind. If you already have 301h Evo on the boards then im not sure if id go for builtin UV directly on the board, the EVO should be enough to get good blue coverage. It would be easy to add uv diodes on a separate channel. My worry would be that adding both evo and uv on the same board might be too much blue.
I mean kingbrite say they do EVO and i am sure are worthy of some trust?
Nope, i dont fully trust any of the alibubbers completely. Remember that EVO is not all the same; its the 301h EVO that comes with the 435nm photon pump, the rest of the evo range is standard 450nm pump. Its easy for them to just throw on standard evo and just call it a day.

yep 301H evo 437nm pump and 301B evo 450nm pump.

Been building again, this time with a bells and whistles design:
Main white channel
6300 white diodes,
326 red 660 diodes

UVA:
400 / 365 nm - 12 diodes each

Far red: 730nm 24 diodes

UVB: 295nm 15 diodes.
Each on a separate channel.

The build was pretty long, i had to solder all connections even the strips but very satisfied i finally done a build of full uv/far red channels.

2x240 XLG-H drivers for the main light, the other channels run at 500mA max. Except for uvb that gets a 200mA driver thru 3 strings. Very excited to see how it grows as my mate now has a nice cultivar althat seems ro be working out much better than old lazy Mandarine...
The solder work is not always pretty, some pads where just near impossible to get right.

Its built for a 1x1.5m section: 1.20 wide and about 0.85m wide for the strips in the middle. The previous fotop light it replaces was 0.9x1.40m and that spreads the watts out way too much, unless you dropp it completely down.
Also the new diodes comes with waterproof coating. IMG_20230813_170752.jpg

yer nice! a rare diy build!...

what make of diodes ect have you used?, where are the strips from?.

i have been thinking about building something recently just not sure which direction to go...

It's nice to see a build again, we don't get that very often these days.

What color temp on the whites?

Whites are 4000k + red sup, the standard high eff spectrum of the late. Its no name diodes of alibaba, but as im running about 32w per 450 diodes, or 0.07w per diode im expecting (and measured) decent output. When it comes to ali i just prefer the diode count to trusting ali "top bins". But hell, next time we might just buy a light. There are some very decent prices which comes with vig discounts now.
Im.mostly excited about adding uv and far red to my buddys grow. In about a week the light is in and a new round under and ill finally begin to see myself how much difference it will make. UVB should be good aswell, but since my buddy is a bit of a mess i went with 295nm instead of 285, a bit further away from dangerous uvc.

On the monos, again no names. I just went with the place that could get me all that i wanted.

OK, well UVC is like wanna kill your buddie :D.
UVB is still some to care for, but you guys have enough sun there and know how to deal with UVB i guess.
You may do a AB comparsion with and without?

Theres a few different lights hanging in that room. Some 2700k90cri red supp cutter strips that have a uv channel aswell. Some just striaght 2700k90cri, and a 3000k. To be honest, whenever ive seen the different sides grow they looked more similar than different between the sides, and yield has sometimes been better on the 3000k and sometimes on the 90 cri side.
The new light should hopefully standout, but its a fairly new cultivar.

Can't wait to see what you think of the Ali baba diodes.

sounds good, keep posting.

5 years later......
The Chinese knock offs are still rocking the hut.

White Widow x Sensi Star original clones
31 days 12 on 12 off.
Ppfd ~ 750

These plants were late vegged and early flowered under an hlg 550r in 4 x 4 tent.
Moved to hut a few days ago.

Enjoy
Nice to see your fotops still in action. Ours are slowly beginning to fail on a few, but at 80$ / 5 years in its more than acceptable. Also weve had unsinked on low power and close to cannopy.

Also the new light is definitely standing out:
Weve now pushed into 25 min /h for 4 midday hours of uvb, uva +far reds for 6 hours straight midday.
You could clearly see a jump in plant health and happiness when we introduced uvb: 5 mins per hour was enough to see a difference in the leaf-praying and general plant stance. 30 mins was too much for an unexposed plant; we accidentally left it on for a bit more time the dya after and plants looked shitty for a bit.

Snap.
They were a bargain.
Cheap as chips. Just an aluminium frame to hold them. No heatsinks, 800 diodes ~ 150 watts per board.
I wonder do they still make them with updated diodes?
They did some with lm301bs but i think you need to make a large order to get them to make them again. They got another big pcb, size of 3qbs (think 840x180mm) but not sure if it comes as a pcb only or only finished light.

Yea, I just checked. I'm sure they would sell the boards only. A sale is a sale lol
I see a full kit, 1 x board, 1 x heatsink, 320 watt driver with separate uv and ir dimming ~ £120
