• After suffering from a falloff of turnout among people of color in the 2016 general election, the party appears to be losing ground with its most reliable voting bloc, African-American women. “The Democratic Party has experienced an 11 percent drop in support from black women according to one survey, while the percentage of black women who said neither party represents them went from 13 percent in 2016 to 21 percent in 2017."

The Democratic party can't even keep African Americans in light of what the GOP is doing.. that's humiliating. The GOP is filled with racists, and a significant amount of black Americans still don't cast their support for the Democratic party..

Why not?

Because the Democratic party doesn't actually offer much for black Americans to support these days.. Black Americans support a living wage, universal healthcare, universal college, etc. Establishment Democrats, don't..

• One of the large groups with a voter-turnout issue is young people, “who encounter a toxic combination of a depressed economic reality, GOP efforts at voter suppression, and anemic messaging on the part of Democrats.”

So what are Democrats doing to help young people face a toxic and depressed economic reality?

What did Hillary offer me besides more war? She supported the TPP and campaigned on the idea that Neo-Liberal politics are working. I need healthcare, affordable school, and a living wage. She didn't support any of those things. Trump promised people he would bring their jobs back, improve their healthcare, and make America great again. He lied and I knew he lied but I'd rather hear a lie than feel like I am being ignored and taken for granted. The Democrats barely won in Alabama, it wasn't some huge victory. They barely won to a known pedophile who pulled crazy stunts. Its like the Super Bowl champs beating the local high school football team and only winning by a last minute field goal. We should expect more out of them.

The majority of the USA is more concerned about economic issues rather than Russia. They want to hear about wage increases, bringing good jobs such as manufacturing back, healthcare, and affordable education. The new GOP tax plan is going to be terrible for the majority of us in the USA. The Democrats should be on TV every chance they get screaming at the top of their lungs about it but instead they are not. Net Neutrality was another issue that should have gotten more play from the Democrats. I understand that many do not support the FCCs actions but they need to start screaming about it.

The Democrats did not get my vote and most likely will not in 2018. They need to start addressing things that directly impact my life and those of the majority of the USA. Things like jobs and healthcare. I am without insurance and can't afford the Obamacare tax because I don't make a lot of money. I am also so far behind on my student loans that I honestly believe I will never be able to pay them off. There are not many jobs that are paying a living wage and the cost of housing is insane everywhere in this country. People are really suffering out there and the party of the working people is more concerned with the donors then their voters. That is going to cost them.

Why not press for a living wage, national healthcare, and a green new deal to bring jobs to the United States? The DNC didn't support these so I didn't vote for the Democrats. Nor did I vote Republican.

• “Emerging sectors of the electorate are compelling the Democratic Party to come to terms with adamant grassroots rejection of economic injustice, institutionalized racism, gender inequality, environmental destruction and corporate domination. Siding with the people who constitute the base isn’t truly possible when party leaders seem to be afraid of them.”

I don't think party leaders are "afraid of" their base. They're beholden to their corporate donors. What's good for the donors is diametrically opposed to what's good for the Democratic party base, so establishment Democrats are wading in this pool of half measures. Instead of getting rid of all of the Superdelegates, they just get rid of 60% (so far just on paper), instead of going full single payer, they leave 27 million Americans still uninsured, instead of just legalizing marijuana, they decriminalize it.. it's always some half assed version of the right idea, and part of that is because they stupidly believe in capitulating with Republicans, when the thought never crosses their minds when they're in power. You think any Republican gives a single fuck what any Democrat thinks about the tax plan? No, they don't. The GOP is purposefully trying to run legislation as fast as they can explicitly to avoid Democrats getting in the way. Why do Democrats do the complete opposite when they hold power and not pass anything without bipartisan support from insane people?

Your uninformed and baseless opinion matters why?

"don't pass anything" -- Compare the 111th Congress to this one (115th). Opinions formed in ignorance don't matter.

Naive, uninformed tool of the right. Democrats are your only hope.

White progressive liberals like you are Democrats. White progressive liberals are one of the coalitions that make up the party. They are important but need to work with other coalitions to beat back the Republican party. Together we will take back Congress next year.
