The Entire Earth Covered in Cities?

Population is steadily increasing. Anybody think at some point in the future, we will have filled the earths land with people. I'm talking concrete and skyscrapers coating everything, from ocean to ocean. Would there come a point that somebody would step in and say whoa, we cant build any more places for people to live, we need places to grow our crops and raise our livestock. Is the earths population going to have to be controlled? People start living in smaller living quarters? Maybe cities will start to be built over top of the oceans. Will there be any such thing as a forest or a jungle in the future? I know it will not be in our lifetime and probably not our children's, but in the future I can see our earth becoming a much more hectic place to live then what it is now. Will we still have any species of animals that are not in captivity and actually wild? It would be hard for animals to live without any forests only big concrete cities. Do you think at anytime in the earths future that the entire earths land will be covered by cities? Population is steadily on the rise. What are your guys thoughts on the topic?

That is a depressing thought, that we as a species could be that stupid.

Aldous Huxley theorized that humanity's numbers would always grow until they outstripped the ability to feed the populations. We are sort of like rats and cockroaches in that sense.

We couldn't survive if all the surface were covered by cement/buildings. The food chain would essentially be gone, not enough plants to put out oxygen etc etc. Technology is expanding as fast or faster than the population. I'd think before we reach your scenario we'd have the ability to live under the water, in space and colonize other planets, either transforming the atmosphere to support life, or building compounds either above or below ground that are liveable.

But the earth has ways to control population, it's also very likely that, aside from natural disasters culling the population or nuclear war, some virus we can't control will evolve and decimate the planet's population

I say it won't happen, maybe to a degree, but you can bet all those oil tycoons and such will turn around and say fuck off, this island belongs to me, this mountain is mine etc, can't take no politicians duck hunting or salmon fishing in the middle of a city now :D As to the issue of food and such, it seems that the powers of this world are on a mission to get everyone eating artificial substance and remove as much of the food aspect from the product as possible.

Not to mention it seems that various governments are already looking into forms of population control and there's still plenty of land left uninhabited. Vacinations, the silent killer, did you know they're now trying to roll out a vacination for kids so they don't get cancer from oral sex?

I believe in the existance of a Shadow Government, anyway, that being said, the "new world order" prefers to diminish the population, rather than watch humans multiply and assist developing countries with high birth rates. The NWO knows that reducing human pop. has a myriad of benefits for Themselves, like a more complete control over the public society like never before. world war III will fuck us up, we don't need a meteorite or a biblical plague to help kill 30 percent of all of us. A bunch of puppets at the top level of society [Capstone of the pyramid of society] are making sure all 20th century freedoms become regulated.

Proof is in the eyes of the beholder. Only a donkey would think that things like the American Dream are going to come back LOL. Internet is the first major important thing to us that is about to take a whale shit. Look at MegaUpload, we can't use that anymore now!

Suburbs: Get guns, lots of guns and sheets of iron and prepare for war. Look on youtube on how to build flamethrowers and setup booby traps outside yer home like it's base camp. Don't forget to stock up at yer Walmarts-
Cities: Do what Detroit did. Centralize all the money and power in the center of the city. If you live in a crap neighborhood, better runaway before a zombie appocolypse happens.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. That's all. C/0

It is very possible. It could be within the lifetime of our children today. From 1940 to 1970 advancement in highways and connectivity erupted. Our transportation lines need an updating and when it reaches completely critical levels (knowing our government) will be when funding will begin to build and build slowly cover majority of the land. that is of course as long as December 2012 doesn't swallow us whole.

I believe that the earth will only accept a limited number of people.... it adapts as we do though, so that number goes up over the course of time, but we are pushing to capacity at this point imo.... Nature will take its course and another plague or other massive disaster will come around to keep the numbers to a sustainable point.

maybe we won't need cities. i think we'll be more science than human by that point.

maybe we'll spend our whole lives wired to a pod that we never exit. all of our socialization and other society type crap could be done electronically. hell even sex could happen electronically. we wouldn't even need to grow to our current size because we will basically be a brain attatched to a bunch of goo and electrodes, or the future equivalent.

from our pods we will control the robots that concoct and feed us our rations, which will be optimized for our precise body chemistries. everything will be able to be controlled remotely so we will have little need to walk or get any type of exercise, so our bodies will become an obsolete waste of resources.

odds are this won't take place on earth. we will have all left the earth to live in pods someplace else, all in an effort to preserve and maintain whatever usable ecosystems remain on earth. we will send the earth friendly robots to earth to harvest and maintain whatever shit we need. without humans the earth lives on yet continues to sustain us from afar.

Holy buzzkill...I just buried my wallet and weed in my couch cushions and now I'm tempted to peek out my windows every 2 minutes.

Nope.

The Earth will kill us first.
It is a life form, and it will get something like a fever for humans :D
And it will kill us, and it will be happy after.
Everything will...
