Breaking News: Dutch contestant disqualified from jury performance in Eurovision Song Contest/Festival after fighting with the Israeli team. Final score is made up of a jury per country and the callers/audience per country get a separate life performance, planned tomorrow. The juries will have to use his performance from the semi-finals instead.

In Europe there’s like Christmas, NYE, and the Eurovision Song Contest/Festival. It’s weird and super gay inclusive. You don’t even have to be able to actually sing. It has nearly 200mil viewers. Israel and Australia are among countries not in Europe that do get to join. Lots of protests against Israel‘s participation this year.

Supposedly, after disrespecting the Israeli participant several times, Joost Klein, a cuntfarmer from NL, was provoced by an Israeli photographer, something about his death parents, and he hit him or her. I don’t know if that’s true, so far just rumors and speculation from sOcIAl mEDia. If completely disqualified, thus not allowed to participate in finals tomorrow, all hell will break lose.

lol

OK that's it, we're leaving the EU. Fuck Europe.

Thought there were incidents and provocation from the Israelis, Joost supposedly 'threatened' a female employee of the organization. No details on what exactly, and obviously not ok regardless, but it looks to have been blown up. They even called the cops. Millions of Dutch people in tears right now, cities organized massive outdoor parties, live screens everywhere.

First disqualification, in 68 years. Such a good song too.

It turns out his team had negotiated with the organization they wouldn’t film him after a rehearsal on his way back to dressing room. One of the EBU (european broadcasting union, the organization behind Eurovision) camera women filmed him anyway, acting like a paparazzi, and after repeatingly telling her to stop he ‘made a threatening gesture towards the camera’, sort of fake punching it or whatever. She filed a complaint accusing him of physically threatening her. Police was called.

I’m sort of lmao cause it’s so absurd. As stupid and ridiculous the whole contest is, with weird ass performers from all over Europe, this dissappoints millions of people. In total it’s a 6 ‘billion’ euro party, that’s how big it is. It’s hard to explain but it’s like the only time per year Europe is Europe. The only time everyone gets the same thing on their national TV channels. Joost’s song is about that, an ode to europe.

The Irish candidate Bambie Thug might pull out. Some Israeli TV-commentator made some nasty remarks about ‘them’ being non-binary and she demands from EBU they take action.

If there was one thing I expected wouldn’t be spoiled by the situation in Gaza it would have been this song contest. Israel not making itself and less unpopular…

The dutch tv broadcaster (part of public, not commercial) already hinted we will not join again and do a Nexit, sort of. lol. The organization even took down our flag

I’m writing this tongue-in-cheek, but tensions are already high, with thousands of protesters (the finals are in Sweden, last year’s winner) still demanding Israel doesn’t get to participate. Several contestants already demanded Joost be let back in. One of the interesting parts is the final voting from the viewers, you can’t vote for your own country, so it always shows the solidarity between neighbors and others in certain regions. Like Belarus would always vote Russia (who’s banned of course), and two years ago obviously ~everyone voted Ukraine.

All the contestants are forbidden to express political opinions and statements, signs, flags etc. Now with one of the contestants kicked out, one who was vocal against Israel and loved by many others, it’s likely some others will not comply.

Never thought I’d see the aurora in SoCal (lat 34.5N.)

Not very bright but big. Sadly my phone is the model before Night Mode, which is what folks use to get pics of “too faint to see” events.
I saw it too, not entirely a first in my area but extremely rare. No beautiful colors, more like the moon was lighting up the sky from all sides.
