It never occured to you that YOU own yourself?

Yeah, But it's getting harder to afford me! The plan you seem to have for the USA is let the money flow without any consequences and it will take care of it's self. That would make about 5000 more millionaires and about 300 million poor people. What you don't get is this: there are other people in the world that are not or have not been as fortunate as you, and they need Help. The greedy people we now have in the wealthy community are not as charitable as in the past (Rockafeller etc.) They would not help the poor, but exploit them. You guys would then probably want titles like earls and dukes, But who would be king?

Med ...

You have been completely deluded by communist propaganda. The citizens of the U.S. are the most charitable people on earth. Besides, wealth is not static ... it is an ever expanding pie. Folks who are "poor" today can make a very good life for themselves in our society. Folks who are now "rich" can fall on hard times or business reversals and become "needy."

And anyway, what does your answer above have to do with who owns you? Are you saying that because of your percieved imbalance in "rich vs poor" that we must turn over the ownership of ourselves to the State? If so, you are not supporting what the country was founded upon ... the right to life, liberty and property. You, my friend, are ripe fodder for the Totalitarians.

what a load of crap. Folks that are poor now can make a very good life for themselves in this society. Have you been into the LSD again. 99.9999% of poor folks die poor, every once in a great while some poor guy stumbles onto a fortune, but poor is poor and rich is rich and the folks in the middle are destined to be one or the other, I'm bettin on poor unless this govt. turns around and starts caring about it's citizens. The purpose of government is to protect their citizenry and provide needed services that are available to all, like health care, retirement, fair labor laws, fair taxation, maintain and build new infrastructure, respond to the mandates of the populace, and otherwise stay the fuck out of the citizens business. In this stay out of our business I think we agree, It's the other 99% of things we disagree on!

Yes, we certainly DO agree on that. BUT .... if you are going to allow government to do all of this:

"provide needed services that are available to all, like health care, retirement, fair labor laws, fair taxation ... respond to the mandates of the populace..."

How are you going to keep government out of our business? You can't have it both ways, Med.

The Founding Fathers were very intelligent people, Med. They thought out every word of our liberty documents. That's why the Constitution says the federal government has the power to PROVIDE for the national defense and PROMOTE the general welfare. Big difference, no? No matter how you slice it, wealth redistribution is unconstitutional.
