"THE" lowest odor strain for a ZERO odor control grow?

Blueberries are good! The herm is bad.

This was the second time BM was mentioned here so I think it will make a final candidate. There are probably other strains that smell like something else which if fine with me. As long as it doesn't smell like a Skunk, WEED or ASS crack, I think it should be mentioned here.
Just keep in mind, like he pointed out, all strains have phenotypes and you may end up with a skunky smelling BM.
Which is why I have pointed out that you can't depend on a strain being low-odor. Just takes 1 out of a 10 pack to be stinky. You won't know which one it is until it starts smelling.

Thanks, I'm starting to see more clearly that the difference is not only strain but the pheno. I get it now, or starting to...I'm guessing that's why some people say NL is low odor and others disagree and even some complain that their NL#5 was smelly. They may not have actually got #5 or NL at all.

Here are a few comments I dug up that might be worth the discussion here.

"Space bomb from tga had almost no smell till the last week of flower and even then it was pretty tame, all 3 phenols came out like that and even after a cure it was very stealth. Most his stuff has a strong lemon fuel smell to it."

"Black rose was kinda stinky but nothing like weed, it smells like roses or carnations"

"Several strains by Mandala have little to no smell. What smells they did have, were like culinary herbs, like thyme. "

"Blockhead ibl from grindhouse..zero smell,growin,trimming,bag."

Phenotype is kind of like...
If you breed 2 rottweilers, while the puppy's will be similar, they will also have distinct differences as well. Even though they all came from the same parents. Same as with people, unless you are identical twins, you all have similar traits but also a lot of different traits.

MJ is no different. If you grow out 10 seeds from a pack, none of them will be exactly identical. Some range all over the place and some are a bit more uniform, but all have same variances.

That in itself is interesting and makes perfect sense. There is so much I still don't know.

I have several things going on concurrently. I have this thread going, and I'm still in the cab design stage. I have some items heading my way, and some here, but still don't have much to actually grow. I've spent a few hundreds dollars and more to spend before I can germ a single seed.

You have to be many different things to be an indoor grower, (at least if you plan to be successful) and learning each part takes more than a cursory look at each phase.

I think once I get the hardware all sorted out, the rest will come easier. I don't need to know everything, I just need to know enough to be reasonably successful with the lowest level of effort. I'm in the biz of enjoying life full time, not growing pot full time, as interesting as it is.

I ran one The Church plant before and it was the stinkiest specimen i have ever came across. Powerful sweet acrid skunk odor. You could have an
eighth double ziplocked, in some tupperware, in a bottom drawer and still smell it in the next room. As its genetics are: Swiss X Skunk #1 X Super Skunk X Northern Lights,
youre bound to find some skunky phenos.
I can only recommend a couple that id consider to be low odor - both by GH. Strawberry haze - strawberry, rose, tea smell. And Haze #3 - woody, nutty, buttery.
But long flowering time with the Haze #3.

my 1st weed/hydro grow was Blue mystic & C99l both alleged low odor strains...
I can attest they were low odor, but hardly "no odor"...
@ the OP; some questions will simply bring out more smart-ass answers than not...
hell I would LOVE to ask for a consensus "best strain" for 2014 question but even that is sure to get ambiguous non answers

If you are a first time grower I don't know about smell but try autoflowering plants when you first start out! I heard vision seeds northern lights have low smell and okayish yield... And for these people bashing you... Guys come on you know when you first started growing you was shitting skittles just like this guy stop the bashing and start helping the guy with any info you might have! When growing weed everyone is at risk if you just keep it to your self and just keep yourself calm you will be fine! And don't go and buy a 1000 watt hps light that will rape your power bill because that's a great way to get caught start small with a 150-250 watt hps with one-two plant's going *if it's for personal use* just don't do anything stupid and you will be fine! Good luck and happy growing!

From my experience, the lowest odor strain that I have personally run is Anesthesia from Sannies.
Definitely moderate odor. Both my plants from this variety were quite similar. Heri dominant phenotypes I'd say. Sweet Skunk smells similarly (but it's not as strong smelling) from Peak.

If someone recommends autos, ignore them....

When I first started growing, the internet didn't exist in people's homes.

So wrong on so many points. First, never bother with autos, they are a completely low quality, inconsistent end product. Are there a few out there that just maybe, just maybe are C grade, but there are no guarantees.

Second, get the biggest light you can comfortably cool in the area you choose to grow in. A 1000 watt isnt going to draw that much electricity for a power company to give two shits about. I personally run a 400, kinda wish I tried a 600 but I dont want to purposely have to run my central air to keep my garden cool. I can keep my grow area cool as long as im comfortable during the summer.

Finally no I wasnt scared shitless to start growing. I was far more scared buying a HP a month back in the day and driving back to the burbs, I was far more scared when I was venturing into mycology for two years. This hobby I just use common sense. Keep the smell to a minimal, give the neighbors no reason to complain, plus I make an effort to know my neighbors. Much easier for them to come to me if they know me or look the other way as Im the friendly, hard workering, finishing up a graduate degree, quiet neighbor.

Plan ahead, and honestly plan out your equipment needed for a safe secure grow. Just take the necessary precautions and you will be all set.

I'm just starting out and I'm using autos... It's working out fine for me!

You are just starting out so you don't know the difference. Your autos might not be shit, but they aren't close to the non-auto versions of the same strain.

Quoted for fucking truth.

May I ask Normakegan, what drew you to choose autos over the actual, quality drug variant? Is it the idea that changing a light timer to be too difficult, the perception of ease? Honest question since you are pimping the idea.

If you set up proper air-flow and filters it really isn't going to matter. Plan on growing the stinkiest plants on earth and set up filters for it and go grow whatever you want. Forget about the low-odor crap. That is too dicey to plan around.

I grow some of the stinkiest shit ever and the only way you are going to smell it is if you actually go inside my grow area, open the door to the flowering box and stick your head in to sniff.
I have family functions at my house regularly. Not one person even suspects there may be something more going on than what they are told. It isn't as big of a deal as you are making it out to be.

If you had to bet literally your life, your families life, that you could grow 6 cannabis plants and they could never ever be smelled by even someone living in the same house, during veg, flower, curing, storage AND with NO odor control whatsoever, which ONE strain would you grow?

If it has NO ODOR at all or a very low odor I would not grow it. There is a lot more in Cannabis than just THC, that makes the effects on the body so different from strain to strain and from person to person. You have a whole range of cannabinoids and volatile oils that effect the body. If you can't grow it right then get it from somebody who can.

So you folks have said the most odor-intensive part of a grow is flower/harvest, and then prepping the buds for curing. Any recommendations on cutting the odor down during this time? Is doing everything in a charcoal-filtered grow room enough to keep the smell out of the rest of the house?

Some New Candidates:

LSD
hashberry
white castle down
DNA Sharksbreath
harlequin
Juanita la Lagrimosa

Direct from the Nirvana site:
For all you growers who need to be careful about smell, don't worry, we've got you covered! We would recommend you try Blue Mystic, a strain marked by a distinct lack of that penetrating cannabis smell. You could also try Northern Light - we've received a lot of feedback on the pleasantly neutral smell of this strain.
