Thanks. I just cut her down to the second node and everything went well. I kind of did something goofy too but hey. What the hell. I took even the little growth tips that were atleast forming a second node. They were only about an inch long. Maybe a little more. I figured why not stick some rooting powder on them too. If they root they root. If not then not wasted time. I just stuck them along the edge of the pot so if they do start to root I can easily transplant to a starter pot. Figured it's silly to think those smaller ones will do anything but hey. Why not try. Maybe one out of 6 will root and I'll have an extra plant. Here's some pics. She look good I think tho
Looks good. Next time give yourself a little extra stem length above your nodes. Helps prevent splitting later on.

I cut it kind of at a V angle It has always seemed to help from splitting. And I have some nice plant tape I was planning on putting one price around it to help KEEP IT FROM splitting and then when buds start weighing down I was going to tie them up too. Of put eight stakes around it and then wrap a circle or two around so they can lean against it. Maybe even buy some tomatoe cages and modify them.

Hey. I have an interesting idea and question. Has any in ever tried topping for the mainline process and then after the new growth grows up a few inches and/or your ready to transplant. Or prep before and add dirt so you bury the entire stem where it sometimes splits like mentioned. Has anyone every tried burying it all and maybe even put some rooting powder on it so it roots out and makes roots right below your cola stems. Wouldn't that be good? I think I may actually try it with my other plant. Or I may try it with on of the tops from this and grow them side by side to see if it does much. Like the are in the pic here. Maybe bury it and try to get some nice roots right below the cola stems. I'd think that could only be benificial for it as the roots would actually be right on the bottom of the cola stems and direct access to all the water and nutrients. Idk. Good idea? Should I try it?

Oh an thanks for the help to and I'm glad I did it. I just cropped it last night and bent down the new shoots so they could grow up into seperate shoots and enough space for all 8 colas. Today when I got home they were not only already growing back up but they actually grew about 1/2inch already. I am very suprised they did not stop for atleast a day to recover. Strong plant I guess? I'm glad I went ahead and did it a bit early and the growth seems to be twice as fast as any of my other plants. The Blue dream X sour Deisel is growing pretty fast but I'm not sure if it's female or male cus it was bag seed but the guy only grew fem seeds and clones. So maybe one hermied Idk. Only one seed in the huge bud tho and j planted it and it's growing nicely. Not as nice as this one tho. I did move the one cfl and LED bulb I have down right on top of it cus it was growing taller then it was bushy. So I lowered the two bulbs and swap back and forth from CFL on it to led on it. Just seeing if one of them will help keep it from stretching better than the other. Only reason I'm switching back and forth

Hey. I mentioned I did the V style cut. I did it the wrong way so it may still split I wish this wasn't my main producer and I didn't need it so bad I would just bury it and see how that works. But usually It's hard to explain but I should have put the V cut like this. --- = --- I did it like ---| |---
Oh well. Think I may take your advice and just start cutting it a bit higher anyways. I originally cut it at a V years ago cus it was easy to reach down in and cut it with a razor that way. But then a few that were hard to cut were cut at --- = --- and those ones didn't split. But most of my plants went to a buddy of mine back then and he would finish them. I just started and Veg indoors. Grew outdoors so I would start his too and he would keep his indoor. Mine would always go out years ago. Only a select few I did indoors back then. Now it's all indoor here and I'll find somewhere to put a mother plant or two outside We're see. But leaving a longer stem when I cut is how I'm going to from now on. I was also thinking. If I leave the stem about 2inches and use it to tie strings and support the Cola buds from falling over Or would that be counterproductive?

Also instead of a V why not just cut the stem at like a 45? I always cut mine at an angle instead if straight across if that makes sense.

Day 40, and the girls are going crazy over here.

The Sour Diesel is so odorous that I had to upgrade to a Phresh Filter. The other filter was half the price and only lasted 6 months...

In other news, it's supposed to be 102° this weekend... fml lol

Fred, how much stretch did you get in flower? i am 2 weeks in and they are only 4-5" taller. Maybe it is my lighting, i never get stretch like other people seem to. Or maybe because of flip flop i dont have temp difference between night and day? basically always 72-76 depending on ambient.

I continued to stretch 3 weeks into flower. I'd estimate my colas added 3-5" during this period.

It varies by the individual plants however. I found one to be extremely taller than the others and one that is growing way denser than the others.

The one thing that I believe has really helped me is all the room I have around each plant, ironically enough with that 5th plant getting chopped really late in this grow its loss has allowed me greater utilization of my lighting and I have the ability to rotate these girls every day.

So instead of one plant always getting more direct lighting in the center, they each get 25% of the sweet spot in the center daily and make a full rotation every 4 days.

A manual light mover I guess you'd say, lol.

I'm really learning a lot here on RIU and don't mind the manual daily interaction with my plants. I feel like they're my daily stress reliever.

Hey, I am in the same boat as you, just started growing in January. One run harvested, another one harvesting this week and my 3rd is the mainlined group at 2 weeks of 12/12. there were supposed to be 4, but one is just so weird, only 6" tall, mainlined to 8, but 1/3 the height of the others. Kind of want to cull it, but will give it another couple weeks to see if it will turn around. maybe thats why they dont stretch very much in flower, cuz all the tops are the same height, no apical dominance.

I have one shorty too. I use scrap 2x4 to make a little pedestal underneath her to get her to the same height as the other girls.

She's short but fat in all the right places. Just like all of God's beautiful women should be, lol.

I never weighed it. I did make a ton of extract (see my avatar) and gave a whole cola to Subcool at the LA Cup.

It was 16 of those identical colas in the tray picture. One of the colas was hit with Jilly Bean pollen and produced the Jillanje cross.
