Okay, so I have had a 7 and 5 ML Querkle grow and just harvested a 6 and 8 ML Ice and a 14 ML WW,
Now the last one in my cabinet is a WW clone that I had begun to veg out as a mother for clones but decided to put her in the cabinet and flower. She is on day 45 of 12/12. I have spread her wide open to get the lower areas light and she sort of looks like a non screened SCROG, not sure what to call her, not a mainline or a scrog. Maybe a mess, but she is very lovely and smell oh so sweet. She is 16" from the soil line, don't use soil but you know what I mean, and 24 inches round. I dated a woman like that once, much wider that she was tall, LOL

Here is a couple of pics from about an hour ago.

Hey GR, I've been working with Hempy's for a couple of years now, tried several different mixes and now I've settled on coir/perlite mix in a ratio from 40/60 to 60/40 as the best performer based on resulting root ball mass/health. From my XP vermiculite just didn't cut the mustard (messy stuff and more expensive than coir), and coir has several advantageous properties that make it such a great medium (not to mention that it is a renewable resource and not mined like vermiculite).

Also in IMO too much perlite doesn't hold enough moisture/nutes to develop a large root system so 100% perlite doesn't sound like the way to go, IMHO. Good luck ;?D
Hey bud,

What type/grade/? do you use and how do you use it, is there a tutorial on this mix. Only thing I have use coir for is hanging baskets and to ship composting worms. What size HB's are you running? I will look for some of your post and see what info I can gather.

Thanks,

GR

Hey GR,
If by type/grade you mean the perlite, I use Krumbles Coarse Horticultural Perlite from my local nursery, as for the coco coir it's the standard fiber, not the chunk stuff (lg. 20 gal. brick runs $15) same source. I use lava rock for the res in my last grow (30 x 3,5 gal buckets), although this time out I'm only going to shoot for 10-12 plants in 7 gal panda bags.

As for info on this tek, most of it I got from the World of Hempy thread here on RIU (it's only 400+ pages, lol, but this is a link to my first post there ;?) You know I've read so much on so many sites when I was first researching Hempy's that I can't be sure where any of the teks come from for sure, lol. BTW the only issue with coir is that it tends to absorb calcium and so you'll need to add something like CalMag to your nutes (like every 3rd feeding) or go with a line of nutes specifically designed to be used with coir (I'm debating switching as soon as I run out of the GH I'm currently running)

I am getting a lot of requests to put a formal "main-lining" thread together to make it easier for ya'll to access, and reference....so here goes......

"Main-Lining"

definition. a form of training and managing canopy for cannabis.....to build a "hub" off of a single node creating a "manifold" for equal energy distribution from the root mass to the growing tops.

....it really is that simple....i am sure it has been done before, and a lot of folks do it, and probably even has a name, but I just call it "main-lining".....my theory being, on a plant from seed, if all branches came off of the same node on the trunk, they should all get the same amount of hormones and nutrients ...or energy, from the root mass.....like building a "hub"........make sense? I am all about an even canopy, of very similar sized stems, and colas.....like green lady soldiers lined up ready to kick ass and take names......no weak ones, no runts, no spindly ones.....just all solid and consistant......

.......so if they all come off the main stem, like spokes on a wheel, they should all be pretty much the same.....right?

....i started growing in a closet.....it was a 32" by 32" by 48" (tall)......and i was determined not to out grow my space.....i would grow 4 plants in 3 gal. nursery pots under a single 400 watt HPS......i learned very quickly that if i wanted to end up with something smokable, i had to learn bonzai techniques in a hurry to manage my heights......so i started in with LST (low stress training), and managed a very, very modest harvest my first few attempts.......as each run progressed, i would find myself getting really anal about properly managing my 32" x32" canopy where i would jam up to 48 colas in my tiny space, and strive to make the canopy as flat as possible......

…...... i began to reap some pretty respectable harvests.......of course i would be topping the main, and spreading out the footprint of each plant, but my finished colas were not very consistant overall as far as size and weight were concerned.....and i would still end up with a fair amount of "larfy" popcorn bud from the understory, which was undesirable for me because i, and my newly found patients, were primarily flower smokers........so i dug deeper........and soon found myself in a slighty larger grow space, in a completely legal situation, allowing me to openly work on my developing theories.........

........my next grow i topped the main, and left two nodes off the main trunk, built my bonzai type structure, managed my canopy really well, but still noticed a huge difference in the energy output of the colas originating from the upper and lower node, even though they were separated by a mere inch on the trunk.....they were similar, but still varied quite a bit.......i did however end up with a decent canopy, and harvest.....i was getting closer......

.....then it hit me, that single inch on the trunk separating the two nodes was the key.....so my next grow, i decided to build the entire structure off of a single node....

Hey Nugbuckets I got a question about mainlining:

I've created the manifold with 8 colas. My lady is still growing since shes still in veg. But I'm getting a few laterals coming out of each cola. Do I leave them and let them grow?

Hey fellas,

This lady would be ready to be bonded down, but I saw she has this on the other main :( image.jpg
Otherwise the plant looks alive except for slight cuppin on leaf edges which cant b cuz of nutes nor temps.image.jpg

I would say that you pinch the lower nodes that are branching off so as to promote more emphasis on the buds that are "connected" to the stem. That's my 2 c...

yo gr8 they lookin good mate
what ya aimin ta pull off her??
SS, I am not sure. When she got the cabinet to herself on 4/20 I said maybe 1 to 1.5 zips. Now man she is starting to fatten up, laying her open has helped, a lot of what would be popcorn have streached a good bit and are getting thick. There will still be some popcorn, but if she is as good as her mom it will be very smokeable.
So looking at her now and knowing I have at least 12 to 16 more days I am going to guess close to 2 zips. Hope that is an under estimate! The other three just harvested dried out to exactly 3 zips, they are in cure now but have tested two of them and they are very nice. I made some major trimming errors, over trimmed just before going 12/12 and they ended up with 4 to to 7 inch colas when they should have been at least 9 to 12 inches. So I feel I lost a lot of good buds by doing that. Live and learn.

For my next grow this fall, I am not sure of what I will be doing. I got some seeds from a reliable friend who got them for me from his next door neighbor, a breeder in NorCal.
The female was Cotton Candy and the male was a Blackberry/Grape Ape cross. This plant has been back crossed a few times and is said by my friend to be just a wonderful looking thick budded long. Researched all three strains and they are 19 to 21+% THC and very good for spasms and joint pain.

If anyone knows anything about how to grow this strain I would like to hear about it. My lady and I will be sampling the WW tomorrow morning. Looking forward to that.

Cut the laterals and focus all the energy on your mains.

The leaf curl may be from dryness. Soil looks a little dry. Canna loves water but it does not like stagnant water around the roots. As long as you have well-draining soil you can water often. Just go lightly on the nutes.

I am using this technique on two of my girls. I have them at 4 weeks flower and on one i have 8 colas @ 13 inch each. For those who have tried this method what has been the avg yield with 8 colas?

I will post pics as soon as the girls are sleeping now.

Strain: crazy miss hyde grown in coco using canna line and BUDXL.

Howdy,

I am a beginner in mainlining too. First time. From what I've read it seems to be 6 weeks veg then switch to flowering. So you got 2 more weeks to go before you switch off for 36 hours to start the flowering period.

People say 6 zips give or take. Fingers crossed :)

Nugbuckets currently yields over a zip per gallon of soil... Under 600w lights, lol....
In fact...
