Honestly Jeff, I think that the node you want to keep might still
be up in that baby.

I know that for many of my breeds that the third or fourth node
would still be making the small/slow growing branches.

Wait a bit...but that is just my $0.02...I am just starting this.

Yeah I definitely understand that, it seems a bit immature in the plants life to me also

I just wanted to consult you guys on here before I do any pruning or choppin

...just get antsy looking at em lol :weed:

Let it get twice as big at least. You want to establish a nice set of roots.

well 16 days since i planted my seeds for my first attempt at main lining, heres a pic of them also just planted 10 more seeds aswell maybe main line a couple in my 3x3 veg room aswell for a nice xmas

So, last Friday I needed to water because I was headed out of town for a few days. I also needed to crop the plants to make four main shoots. All was well, I completed Q2 and was working on Q1, i cut back the upper portion of one half of the plant leaving 2 main stems. When I was cutting back the other side the stalk was extremely thick and when I put down pressure on the stem with the razor it cut right through and the cut off half of the second shoot. So that left me with three main stems on that one plant. Well I have decided to continue to shape the plant into a 8 bud mainline and see what happens.
As I said, if it wasn't for bad luck, etc, etc, etc.

use scissors or micro pruners.... No pressure needed just a quick snip and your done

Be glad you didnt cut you thumb off haha. Had the same thing happening and still flowered the plant, she did fine - not exactly as good but fine ;)

well heres my babys 20 days since planting, also just set the ducting up on cooltube and plugged in my new temp controller so hopefully when i check tomorrow the temps havnt rose above 25c then il be to take them along tomorrow under the 400mh

they just been under 250 blue cfl since planting

If you top those 6 heads then you could do a 12 head, it would still be a mainline because they are still coming off the central manifold ... thats what i would do in your situation bongsmilie

Red, It depends on growth, Q2 will be ready to go to 12/12 in a week or two. Will have to see where Q1 is at that time.
Today I topped Q2 to create 8 main shoots, then topped Q1 on one side and left the other side to grow for a day or two.
They were both received nutes, 1250 ppm, pH adjusted rain water to 6.8, my soil is fairly low pH so giving the plants a pH of 6.8 should counter that.
Fed with GH nutes, cal/mag, Roots, Bio Marine, & Bio Weed. Also a few drops of Super Thrive and EM1.

This was the thread that brought me here and introduced me to TGA and the amazing wealth of info that Subcool shared with the world. Anywhoo this was the first plant that I ran in super soil and the only plant I have mainlined. It was a White Russian. I am currently flowering a Jack Skellington tester and a Timewreck tester. If they are keepers I plan on doing main lined grows of each.

Budo, I concur with Red D., yes they look ready, be careful tying them down, don't rush it. The points where the shoot meets the main stem needs to strengthen and get use to the manipulations you will be giving them. So as you bent these shoots, do so gradually and you will succeed.

With all the crap that has happened during my grow I know I could have given the plants a little more time during training.
Mine are recovering from all the troubles and I think all will be fine in the end, that is if both turn out to be young ladies. Will be posting pics later today.

I'm gonna disagree. Those all need a week or so more. They all look to be barely working on the fourth true node and you want them to be at the fifth or sixth before the first topping.

If just topping to split the head, then he can proceed, but if he is looking
to mainline them, then waiting for a couple more nodes would be in order.

Just how I am seeing it at this point.

I found that the best main line can take a while to show itself.
